If you are an insider then you get the preview, and the headaches. !*don-know!*

Will it force Cortana on non-US installs? My native Dutch W10 is still free from Cortana and other privacy infringing stuff that MS forces upon its customers. And I would like to keep it that way.

I use a little .bat file that keeps Cortana from running in the background and keeps the search box.

Thanks, to my daughter I don't have a mic so Cortana is a no go for me. As for being an insider, it has not been too bad. I have only experienced one hiccup with updates where it looped. I am just happy it's running on my 10+ year old system.

I am scraping up some funds to upgraded later this year or the next. For some reason, I am drawn to Ryzen. No idea why other than the new architecture just makes sense to me.

Between $330 and $600 for the CPU and the mid $200s for a MB,quite an investment. It would be interesting to see what that would do for this old 32 bit game. I have been doing upgrades to mine for the last 6 months. I watched the 980 vs 1060 discussions but my budget will not stretch to the 980. The 1060 will be here on Saturday and ready for next Thursday and TSW.

If I go with Ryzen I will not be getting the top of the line. I am looking at the Gigabyte AM4 AMD B350 and 7 1700, so about $440. Then I memory, new PSU, and may a new case. There is a lot I need to look at and I am sure there will be a ton of new build reviews coming out in the next few weeks.

Go for an eATX case. I have one, about the size of a small closet. *!greengrin!* More room for coolers and cards and fans. Liquid cooling is great.

Does anybody know how big this behemoth of an update is going to be? There is lots and lots of imbedded crap I certainly don't want or need. I wish you could pick and choose just what to update. Being stuck on a marginal plug in dongle for net access at home, this whole thing really fills me with dread.

You know you can switch automatic updates off? I believe one has to set Metered Connection to On, and it won't automatically update.

That works does it? I thought that was only for dial up connections. Will give it a bash...

It didn't tell me how large this update was. It didn't take too long to download. The install was the conventional: please wait while we install with three reboots and you're in.

Have you tried the "game mode" in this latest Win 10 build?
Did it improve anything?
