Computer keeps shuting down on it's own.

My computer started to just shut down on me. I don't know if the power supply is over heating or what to look for.
I have windows 10 now and maybe that's is doing this? I'm going to get a new computer but now I can't get the old computer to stay on long enough to do anything like transfer files to an external HD. Looks like I have a real problem on my hands!
I have so much payware in my computer how can I transfer all of this to a new computer? *!sad!*
I'm looking at computers on Cyberpower, and Xidax and other sites.
Any comments on these company' s would be appreciated. I know that I can reload Steam files alright but all my payware engines I'm not sure.

HELP :D

Thanks,
Bob

Don't worry, as long as your HDD is OK, you can just add it to a different computer and read from it.
For example you can:
- put the HDD in an USB/eSATA enclosure and use it as an external drive;
- put the HDD as an extra drive in your new computer.

Thanks Chacal
That was going to be my next question to see if that was possible?
I think that I can handle that operation. I hope *!lol!*
So all is not lost yet.

Thanks again. !*cheers*!

Before changing the computer, I'd at least try to check the PSU and maybe get one from eBay.

Buying something from eBay is a risky game of scam or no scam.

Most of the time if a pc shuts down randomly it's probably a heating issue. Open it up and clean it out, see if all the fans are in operating order. If it's a laptop or has heatsinks the heat transfer paste could be due for a change. (recommended every 2 years for a machine that's used for gaming that could see more heat than average pc's)

Really.
I've bought hundreds of items from eBay over the years, and had exactly one bad experience, and that was because I chose to ignore obvious warning signs.

Are you getting the BSOD or just shutting down? If it is a BSOD, I have had the same issue in the past and have found it to be nothing more than a bad SATA cable, replace this first. If it does turn out to be a HDD issue and you are having problems recovering data. You can remove the HDD from your computer put it in a plastic bag. Then put it in the freezer for a few hours. Reconnect the drive without installing in the case and this will give you extra time to transfer your files. This may take several sessions. It does work.

I would be running these 2 basic diagnostic tests;
Windows key + r/R in the box type sfc /scannow and OK - what is reported ("space between sfc and / but not /scannow)
(Google) chkdsk/r runs at next boot may take several hours. and/or right click on the drive - properties tools - error checking - "check".
In the windows start at bottom left type in "reliability history" - what is the error at the time of the crash - click on it to see more detail.
if S.M.A.R.T. is enabled that will normally indicate if a HDD is faulty (Google S.M.A.R.T.)

Sorry I did not send a reply. I had to dig out an old computer I had to get on the forum again.
My regular puter shuts down before I can get it to boot up now.
When I turn it on the fans just start running at top speed and it shuts down right away.
So I'm going to clean out the fans and any dust from the case and see if that at least gets me on so I see if that is my problem. I have bought a new computer from Xidax and it will take a while to get it.
I sure miss reading the the forum comments.
And would like to say *!!thnx!!* to all of you for your advice.
