I never had this problem before until I had to re install windows 8 on my laptop. I'm using chrome by the way.

Perhaps the Intel drivers? I cannot get the latest from intel since Toshiba blocks me from installing them.

I've had that problem for years.
If you find a solution post it here.
I've been told it's just YouTube, but I didn't have that problem until 3 or 4 years ago. It's plagued several computers and graphics card setups.
I've tried to update GPU drivers, Chipset INS (drivers), Tried going with and without Intel Rapid Storage Technology etc.
I still don't know what really causes it.

I had a colleague with the same issue using chrome and I believe Firefox and we could only get a decent flow using IE10, for some reason some videos are "optimised" for IE and can be choppy on other browsers.
However this issue has been documented on the web and this may help https://productforums.google.com/forum/ ... 5-false%5D Clearing the cache may also work.

What's funny is I didn't have this problem at all before I had to reset it back to factory. None of those workarounds really did anything. I'm pushing more towards something corrupted in the hardware since some of my raw train videos show the same stutter in the windows media player.

Try going to a different location that uses a different ISP - preferably if you have a friend in a tech company that has strong internet. You might be surprised at what you find.

Right click on the video as it plays and click "stats for nerds". See if you're dropping frames.

I've completely banned google chrome from my system..using Internet Explorer now with no problems whatsoever.

Edit: I wasn't dropping frames it would just stutter randomly.

On my system, Internet Explorer will never run right and the only one that will work right is Google Chrome.

Firefox was downloading viruses so we had to remove it, as soon as we did the viruses stopped appearing.

I believe the problem with youtube has something to do with traffic, in the mornings it works great on my system. Although in the evenings it sometimes wants to act up, so I think the more people that's on youtube has something to do with youtube performance.

If that's the case, I don't think there would be to fix it other then not use it.

I've been using Firefox for years, and the only time I had a problem was when I accidentally downloaded from a site other than Mozilla's.
There are malware sites with their own versions of FF and IE that put redirect malware into them and other spy and tracking ware programs.
You should always get software from the provider's own website. Never download browsers, flash or anything else from a third party website.
That being said, FF has been a performance pita since the new look came out a few months ago.
I found out a lot of virus' actually get into your PC via adds. When I started blocking adds with FF and Adblock plus a few years ago, the attacks came to a dead stop, except for a temp problem with Zedo and Conduit redirect malware. Those were coming from T.V. Guide Channel's online channel lineup.

That's why I won't use Chrome or other Google software. It's a well documented fact, that Google installs and leaves tons of tracking software on a person's PC.

I use Firefox or a browser called "Cyberfox". The advantage of Cyberfox is 2 reasons.... it has well supported and updated 64-bit versions (although it has 32-bit versions if you prefer).

It looks and feels exactly like Firefox cuz it's a Mozilla-based browser. I haven't tested plug-ins with the 64-bit version I use to see if they work... mainly out of laziness. Firefox has an 64-bit version, although you have to search for it. It just felt like an extended beta browser that Mozilla seemed to have orphaned either due to lack market interest or they concentrated their limited resources on the 32-bit version (I heard the are now asking for donations).

They are asking for donations, although they have done that in the past.
FF has taken a quality hit lately. I've been looking elsewhere, but keep sticking with FF for now.
I'm wishing I hadn't let it update to the (Aurora interface?)

I was under the impression that Mozilla had a great commercial backing years ago, but now they're asking for money again. I wonder if the commercial users aren't too happy with the latest product and have quite donating as much money?

I found something new in my FF plugins. It's called OpenH264videocodec. I disabled it and my video playback isn't perfect but it's a lot better.

I think the reason for a downturn in cooperate sponsorship of Firefox is cost cutting and simple cost/benefit analysis in general. Yahoo is Mozilla's largest current sponsor, but it's not as lucrative as past sponsorships (hence current donation pleas). It makes Yahoo the default search engine in the Firefox and better integration with it in general as a return.

It's not a browser quality issue, it's just money is not being spread around by companies in the same way or levels as it was in the past.
