I have experience with several MSI boards in the last 5 years and can vouch for them as well. Asrock is Asus.

TS2017 still mainly uses one core, plus some bits offloaded to other cores. IE it will run it's best on a CPU that has high IPC and Ghz.
That in turn still means Intel for TS2017 for best results.
If a person has tons of game titles that multi thread, and/or multi threaded programs of any sort, they'd be better off, dollar for dollar with a higher end Ryzen.

MSI has done me wrong a few times over the past several years. The Reddit and Overclocker forums are not giving me any confidence either.

Yup, knew about the ASRock ~ Asus relationship. I was, and still kind of an Asus fanboi. The more expensive gear is really good quality, but I am looking at a budget. The AB/B motherboards are looking pretty good, and I have no plans to go dual GPU. I want to read more reviews though, especial with them using newer BIOS versions.

meh, I am looking to future proof my rig. My current rig has served me well for 12+ years with some upgrades. Swapped the E8400 for a Q9650, changed to SSD, and I have a 970 GTX. The motherboard is a Gigabyte and has been solid.

Here are the current return rates.
What's funny when you read a bunch of these things, is that MSI is slightly better than about 4 years ago, but the other brands return rates have actually gone up some.
Right now they are pretty much even.

Of particular interest in some forums, is the fact that Asus has suddenly become a real PITA when it comes time to RMA something. Their generous return policy is no more.

Papa if your computer is twelve years old it must have been a long time ago that MSI treated you badly. I now between my own computers and ones I have built for friends have six MSI motherboards and two GPUs and knock on wood no failures of any kind. No overclocking and half are liquid cooled.

I did say "over the past several years", so no, I am not basing my experience from some random encounter in a bar 12 years ago.

I have time to see how it all plays out. Two months will mature all those BIOSs so we will see who really reigns king of the Ryzen.

I have to admit, any new PC with an upper end chip, will perform better than a 12 year old one.

I am surprised I have lasted this long. TSW plays well. I cranked up the settings and I only get the occasional tearing and stutter. But it is time to retire the old gal.
