I'm pretty sure you need this to run RW with absolutely no shuttering or lag spikes:

I'd take ArizonaChris' advice: "My best advice, upgrade because, it's time to upgrade. It's always nice to have a new PC."

Hey Guys,

Sorry that I dissappeared for over a month, I've had alot going on with college and all. I actually got the computer very recently; it was delivered to my house a few weeks ago, but I couldn't pick it up until I went back home for a weekend.

I will be sure to post some screenshots and all soon - So far, I am quite impressed, I must say. Settings are not completely maxed out, but I'm still getting some d**n fine quality.

I do have a quick question, however. The CPU specs are as follows:

Processor: Sager - 3rd Generation Intel® Ivy Bridge Core™ i7-3610QM (2.3GHz - 3.3GHz, 6MB Intel® Smart Cache, 45W Max TDP)

Now, right now, in the control panel, it says that my CPU is running at 2.30 GHz... How can I boost that up to 3.3 GHz? I hear that that will also help very largely in performance. Is this something that happens automatically when the load on the CPU increases, or is there a manual option that I can select to run the CPU at 3.3 GHz? Even if I could run it at 2.8, that'd be great...just as long as I can bump it up from the 2.30.

Thanks alot guys, and sorry again to dissapear.

Hi Stephen. Welcome back and I hope college is going well. For information about Turbo Boost, check out the Intel website:

http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/architecture-and-technology/turbo-boost/turbo-boost-technology.html

Lots of info, but basically it automatically increases based on load and other factors. With some desktops, the processor is "unlocked" so you can perform what's called "overclocking", that is, forcing the processor and other components to operate at higher than normal specification. With a laptop you're a little more constrained. Read all the manuals that came with your system to get a better idea of what it's capable of and report back with what you find, along with any other questions you may have.

Good luck!
Marc

Edit:
I just downloaded the manual from the Sager site and I didn't find anywhere that it mentioned Turbo Boost at all. All that means is that you probably can't configure it manually, you may just have to rely on the default Intel behavior. All in all, I still think you have a dynamite system and you should enjoy it tremendously.

Thank you very much for the information, Marc. It's no big deal if I can't activate the turbo boost manually - as long as the CPU runs at faster than 2.3 Ghz when gaming; if not, that would be quite dissapointing. :P

I have not been dissapointed yet, though. I am running at 2/3 my native screen resolution in the game rate now, and that certainly helps performance. Running at my native resolution isn't all that bad either, but is not quite as smooth as when I run at 2/3 res. I'll just have keep tinkering around with things as needed, but overall, I am quite happy.

Thanks again for the info!

Steve
