From the interwebs . . .

To upgrade to Windows 11 22H2 manually from Windows Update, use these steps:

1. Open Settings on Windows 11.
2. Click on Windows Update.
3. Turn on the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” toggle switch.
4. Click the “Check for updates” button.
5. Click the “Download and install” button to install Windows 11 24H2.
6. Click the Restart now button.[/list]

Sometimes you need to take the scenic route.

Well late last night I got the 24H2 Update for my other 2 computers. I found out to speed-up the process I needed to run the MS PC Health Check program, and the next thing I get was the updates. Still having no problems. Take Care, Stefan

I ran the MS PC Health check program and got 2 updates for Windows 11 23H2. No 24H2.

For those who want to install 24H2 without waiting your turn:

1. Install PC Health Check App from MS (https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/windows ... ealthcheck)

2. If all checks out OK, run the Windows 11 Installation Assistant from MS (https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/softwar ... /windows11).

Should be done in about 60 or so minutes.

Thanks. That got me 24H2. Quite a long job as I think it was a complete install of Windows not just an update.

Some games have not worked since the 24H2 update. Quite a few seem to be Ubisoft games. The one that I play at the moment is affected. After playing for about 30 seconds, you get a CTD. You just need to do a Google search to see how many.

Crash to Desktop!
A "crash to desktop" is said to occur when a program (commonly a video game) unexpectedly quits, abruptly taking the user back to the desktop. Usually, the term is applied only to crashes where no error is displayed, hence all the user sees as a result of the crash is the desktop.

As a follow-up.

I have reverted to 23H2. I had some strange issues running commands in command line with elevated privileges. I cannot delete files, or make links.

I thought a clean install of 24H2 would work, bit noooooooo!!!.

So, had to format my laptop and re-install twice in about 10 days.

Pity TSC does not work properly in Linux

One reason to turn off "Get updates as soon as they're available." Wait and read about any negative issues.
