Best Card

Unread postby AmericanSteam » Tue May 23, 2023 1:47 am

I have the opportunity to pick up a NVIDIA RTX 3060XC12 GB or a Gigabyte RTX 3060Ti 8GB for $250.US what would be the better card for TSC?

!*brav*! !*cheers*!
I would choose the card with more memory.
Intel i7-7900K (3.60 GHz) - ASUS Prime Z390A - 32 GB DDR4 RAM 2400 MHz
GPU EVGA GTX-1060 OC 6GB at 1920x1080, 144 Hz - Monitor ASUS VG-248QE
System Windows 11 Pro in WD SSD 500 GB. Games in Inland 1Tb M.2 NVMe PCIe

I bought both cards. I installed the RTX 3060 12Gb card and I was immediately impressed. Frame rates went from 15-30 to 30-60 and over 70 in some areas. I haven't noticed any stuttering at all. I will try this for a week and compare it to the RTX 3060Ti 8GB card and decide on which one to keep.I will most likely be getting rid of my old 1030 6 GB card and one of these newer cards.

Keep the Nvidia 3060 card as it has 12 GB of VRAM. Your old card was a 1060 6GB like I had.

I will be curious about the other card. The 3060 12 GB runs hotter than the 1060 6gb. It will run between 70-80°C at 90-100%.
Fixed to running hot issue. This card has 2 fans both of which run independent of each other. One of the fans was at a fixed 30% setting. I set up a fan control curve for each one of them and the running hot issue is solved, about the same temperature as the 1060 6gb card.

Those who might be looking into a GPU upgrade, I have decided to keep the EVEA Geforce RTX 3060 12 GB GPU. I have tested this and the 3060Ti 8GB on my system and both work equally well. Anyone interested in the Gigabyte 3060Ti 8GB (3 fan model). Also have a spare GTX 1060 6GB (3 fan model) card as well. PM me for details.

Hey it must be card upgrade time... I took out my GTX1060 & upgraded to the RTX3060 12GB too. Smoking deals at Amazon. Took the plunge for new monitor too. What a difference. !!*ok*!! *!!wink!!*

I have an Asus RTX 3060 TI 8 GB card supposedly arriving tomorrow after ordering through Amazon Australia 2 months ago. They had to source it from somewhere else. I was going to get the 3060 12 GB card but when I asked which card to get on a Nvidia FB group they all said the 3060 TI was a better card and said that 12 GB was overhype. It was cheaper than my RTX 3050 card which I got in February 2022.

The 3060Ti 8GB has better specs than the 3060 12 GB. I saw no difference on my system. Both had comparable FRs and performance. Both had the same FR drops at the same places on the same routes. I bought both used and sold the 3060Ti 8GB to almost pay for the 3060 12 GB. I don't do any high end gaming. Maybe with your processor you will have better performance. I think that my processor or monitor may be my bottleneck.

If you want to do a comparison test purchase 3DMARK from Steam and run it as I have done. Here are my results.

I think I'll hold off spending $34.99 US for this. I would rather spend it on The new NS SD70ACU from Searchlight Simulations. My next piece of hardware will be a new 4K monitor.

That's $49.99 NZ. Actually, I think I got it in a Steam sale.
