Well I'm late to this party. I saw this AFTER I installed the new GFE. I signed in using my Gmail account. It's the reason I set up the mail account in the first place. My different, long time, spam free email account I only give out to very close friends and family. It will never be used for websites or otherwise.
The new GFE is a major redesign. A lot of things are more buried in menus than the old one. Not sure I like it, but I'll get used to it.
ShadowPlay is the main reason I use GFE. As I said in the TSW thread, I was gonna try both the Windows 10 DVR feature and OBS Studio and see how well they work. Well I used both of those in full screen recording mode so that it was an apples to apples comparison with ShadowPlay.
Conclusion of the test? ShadowPlay still reigns supreme. OBS Studio was the worst of the three capture methods I tested. My test was recorded from the trackside camera view with FOV zoomed into the mid-40% range. OBS Studio did fine until the train actually passes the camera. Then it jerked and stuttered badly. The Windows 10 DVR feature did better than OBS Studio, but it still jerked a bit as the train passed. ShadowPlay handled it pretty much like a champ as my recent "Train Simulator 2016 MLWAudio/Krellnut 4-Engine sound medley" video proved. Certainly better than any other capture software I've used.
So in conclusion...... I'll put up with the dumb sign-in so I can still use ShadowPlay.
