I wish to be a "seasoned" car builder/repainter some day when I grow up. But until then I must depend on the "Professional" cadre of Railworks artists to make a GI Troop Sleeper for the Community.
There were 2400 Troop Sleeper cars built for the war effort by Pullman Company. They were used to move divisions of soldiers to the embarkation centers on the East and West Coast from all the training camps around America. After the end of the War they were all sold as government surplus. Every Class 1 railroad owned them. Most were converted to MOW Bunk House or Tool cars. Their High-Speed trucks made them perfect candidates for conversion to Express Cars, both for general freight and refrigerated freight, by many railroad Back Shops and they served for many years in revenue service. Even REA operated a fleet of cars. Many were painted for the roads that they ran on in consists of Name Trains. The C&O, converted 23 cars into Express Baggage cars numbered 355 to 376 for use on "The George Washington" passenger train, first in Pullman Green then in modern Blue-Yellow-Grey tri-color paint.

Could someone with the time and the expertise, please, build a Troop Sleeper. and a version that could be repainted as an Express Car? It is basically a PS AAR standard 50'-6" single-sheathed steel boxcar design with reinforced car ends with passenger car doors but no vestibules and a personnel door centered on each car side with trap door steps. They used standard boxcar parts, equipped with special Allied Full Cushion high-speed swing-motion trucks The Back Shops filled in the windows with sheet metal and swapped out the side doors for freight doors.
