I've been working on a repaint for the Challenger, (and I'm a newbie so be nice please) My thanks go out to MDurdan for his repaint tutorial, and I would like some pointers, maybe some help on how to make this appear as a seperate locomotive? (I've only edited the default textures on my version because I can't stand the default) Please let me know what you think! *!!wink!!*

Copy the locomotive folder and paste/rename it. You can edit the .bin file easily with RW Tools and change the loco name so it will be unique.

BTW, AWESOME PAINT on that one!!!! **!!bow!!**

well thanks! I just painted the whole boiler/cab'tender black and added a paintbrush effect, and I think it looks alot better than the default! (not to toot my own horn, but I do all the time in the game *!lol!*
*** I probably won't need it for this one, I'm satisfied with this as default, but I may like to do one of the Default SD70ACe to make the colors match Scott Hoarty's ES44 repaint! !*salute*!

I hope this can just be the tip of the iceberg. I use the Challenger whistle in The file library on Trainsim.com, and that sounds pretty legit, but my biggest problem, now that the paint is out of the way, is how to get the Big Boy's bell on it. It sounds just like the real 3985's bell! why they didn't put more realistic sounds on it the first time? I don't know... *!rolleyes!* TS2012 headlights would put it over the top for sure!

once I can figure that out, (help would be appreciated if possible*!!wink!!*) this would be worthy for a run over Sherman Hill when it comes out!

"Now that the paint is out of the way, is how to get the Big Boy's bell on it."

The easiest way if you don't want to mod the bin file is to just copy the BB_Bell.dav from the BB audio folder and paste it into the Chall audio folder. Take your Chal_Bell.dav and back it up somewhere then rename the B_Bell.dav to Chal_Bell.dav. Done.

!*YAAA*! !*YAAA*! SUCCESS!!!!!!! Thanks alot! !*salute*! !*salute*! *!!thnx!!* That was so simple! does this work on horn files too? I use the SD75 K5la by b737lvr in the file ibrary on my SD0ACe set, (it sounds awesome by the way) and would like to put it on the ES44 and Dash 9 and his RS5T on the SD40-2. (I tried it and it worked! joining this forum is gonna be among the best decisions I ever made!)
