Iron Truss Bridge Reborne

Unread postby jpetersjr » Tue Nov 08, 2011 11:24 am

Today I opened up a older bridge I had built in sketchup, finished it up and transferred it over to 3D Crafter. Now I'm in the process of finishing it up for the sim and then I'll release it to the freeware route creators.

It will come in two color, black iron and the grayish iron.

It will also have support columns, which I'll put together next in 3d crafter.

This bridge by the way is a double, it can hold two tracks.

I can shrink this one some and make a single version next, but it will come from the same source file though.

As well, here's some more progress.

Leave it to be known though, my bridges can't curve, they can only be placed straight so they require perfectly straight track laying.

As well, I checked the poly level and this one is only about 4000 poly's, considerably small for how large it is.

And here's the view of the bridge from standing on the bridge at a person's level. Looking from the person's eyes.

You know, I might just do that, just make the columns, release this version, and then shrink it down again and release it as a single with the set.

There are now two versions, the double track version and the single track version.

I will need to take a drive to confirm, but that single track version may match one along my route.

I am now wondering how hard it will be to rust that up just a bit. Are you unwrapping it or just exporting with the base texture?

Exporting it with the base texture, but it shouldn't be too hard, had a friend repaint my older water tower quite easily. Though, he never released it, even know I gave him permission to do so.

If it doesn't match though, get me some reference photo's of the bridge along your route and I'll build it.

Driving out is one thing, getting pictures... it would be nice to do but I don't see it happening right now.
