Blender Success

This is my first creation using Blender, a block of concrete! Let's try not to wet ourselves!

Like many, I'm sure, I plunged into my first route without really knowing anything, especially when it came to track plans. My route is within 100 miles of Barstow so I chose the default track from that route to get started. I then fell in love with the SMM signals because they remind me of track-wandering in days past, and they really fit the Basin and Range.

Trouble is, the tracks are too close together! And the route doesn't really lend itself to a lot of signal bridges all over the place. I needed to begin learning 3d modeling for a number of projects, and this was the perfect end-to-end test.

Next I need to learn better wrapping. Even though it's the same concrete texture as the base, my wrapper is stretched and the shadows don't line up. Hiding behind the speed sign maybe you don't notice so much...

Blender is AMAZING. Watched a guy build a suspension bridge in an hour, and he was quite gabby about it!

Thanks, Harold! *!!thnx!!*

This has been a barrier, and it is going to open MANY doors. Already I have many Railworks ideas that were simply not possible before.

I read in Second Life that some dude is investing $1M into a line of shoes, the world's first virtual brand. Thems that model are going to be in demand.

Shoes!

Congrats on the first model!

One thing important to remember is how far away you will be looking at the object, if you only see a small object up close for half a second you don't nearly need to put as much detail as something that you'll see a lot longer.
