P42DC Control Features - Part 2

Unread postby ricksan » Thu Jul 14, 2011 6:22 pm

First off, the G-TraX P42DC has two horn switches -- one for the engineer and one for the conductor. It also has a bell switch, and a horn sequencer. The horn sequencer is operated by a foot switch at the engineer position, or by tapping the C key (virtual engineers only *!!wink!!* ). The sequencer plays the standard long-long-short-long horn sequence required at US grade crossings.

The ditch lights work like this: They're on whenever the forward headlights are on (headlight switch position 1). When the horn is sounded, the bell rings continuously and the ditch lights blink alternately (actually, they go dim, not completely off). Several seconds after the last horn blast, the action stops. Both ditch lights revert to full bright and the bell stops ringing. Operating the horn sequencer initiates the same action as the horn.

If the forward headlights are off (headlight switch position 0 or position 2), none of the above takes place.
