Good news...

Ricksan (GX-TraX) had the kindness to remap the old generic semi-tanker (file GX_Veh_TractorTrailer02) insuring zone mapping and eliminating the reverse mirror syndrome both on the tank trailer and the cab. This basic tanker will give us many new possibilities to populate roads, rail-yards and industrial complex.

After a few tests, I've boosted the texture canvas to 2048x1024 - thus giving us a descent resolution to display smaller graphics

Herewith, is my first creation with a total new detailed cab; I introduce the flamboyant red Mobilgas tanker, along side the standard untouched truck-trailer.



Do you think its actual scale seems right?

Ha! the beauty of creativity! I made it up as I was writing.

a characteristic combination of opinions, emotions, or behavior.
"the “Not In My Backyard” syndrome"

Let's go further, as I'm having fun. The second definition is well suited to 3D modeling : «a characteristic combination of symptom or behavior.». Route builders spent less time developing scenery objects than the route or its rolling stock. They, often produce objects which will be at mid or far distance with less detail preoccupation - often for purposes of saving on memory, but other reasons are used. To populate a route, lots of side track objects are needed, thus heavy on time, etc.

Let's take our tanker as an example - the basic standard model works reasonably well because it is a unique color throughout its entire surface or surfaces. Since there is no text or logos with text (which normally reads from left to right) there is no visual problem. The texture on the conductor's side can be identical for the passenger side - hense the «mirror» image with an invisible twist - the texture is reversed (not to be confused with inverse). This is typical of computer graphics, why? The graphic image is applied to geometric plane (2D) as if it was made of glass. Seen from the other the same graphic is reversed. The root of this problem is at the initial texture mapping of each surface of the 3D model. In the name of expediency, shortcuts were used but limited its potential and re-use.

Looking Good... Always liked Cab Overs. Quick question, I see the A&P Truck, ever though about a National Tea Truck?

Hum, I do not know anything about this company - even less about its logo, graphics, etc

This was nightmare when I repainted some wagon back in MSTS days.

National Tea was a big rival to the A&P in a lot of places, in the 50's & 60's. They were famous for giving S&H Green Stamps.

Great News, I've decided to produce and package the tanker semis by color theme - thus now 7 different RED tankers are ready to be delivered.

The first group is made up of:
1. 3 Esso, sorry no EXXON
2. 2 Mobilgas
3. 2 Texaco

As a teaser here are the 3 Esso semi-tankers :
