N&W Powhatan Cars

Unread postby hobo1960 » Sun Aug 18, 2019 9:45 pm

I've been wanting to paint a set of cars in the Norfolk & Western 'Powhatan Arrow' scheme for a long time and this weekend I finally got around to starting them.

The N&W Powhatan Arrow was one of the named passenger trains of the Norfolk and Western and its route ran from Norfolk, Virginia, to Cincinnati, Ohio.

Here's a quick sneak peak of the first car ...WIP of course.

I thought I read somewhere that N&W 611's design is actually copyrighted by its preservation society?

It is, but that does not mean they won't allow model's to be made. The creator would just have to talk to them about licensing. I don't know if that would stop a freeware model, but most creators wouldn't put that much effort into something that complex and then give it away for free. I've asked on here before if it's possible to get one of the Class J's that were made for MSTS converted to Railworks. It is, but it would take someone with the knowhow here to do it. I'd try if I knew what programs, etc. I would need.

First of all though, would need to know whom to ask, and then the question is if they'd charge anything even for a free model to be made. I would love to reach out to them myself if someone could find out about whom to ask, should be no problem finding the reference.

Of course, I probably couldn't afford to pay for anything like that at this moment since I'm being pushed to my limit at trying to keep my books website open, almost can't afford the payment and I haven't sold enough books.
