I been on this project for a few months. I had alot of problems getting railworks to behave especially with random errors coming up. So I revamped this project again. I have to erase some tracks which is causing the infamous "Something Bad Has happen" error to appear. Its a good thing I saved before I started doing this. Now I have to figure out what the problem is. Before I started this project again I refresh RW2 with a new installation. Don't know the cause.

My Beauty is missing two things to this route. Can you find them in the photos?

Here are some of the latest Screenies.

Signals I do later on. Passenger Coaches yes, but a certain kind and something else. Its no point of an auto train with Cars in them, but how do we get them in the Carriers? lol

I'm bored sorry!

Finally made it to Deland, FL, next stop Jacksonville. I still haven't decided on whether or not ot wait on the block assets or just lay trees down manually.

Glad to hear that you continue with your route. !!*ok*!!

The SBHH errors: Could it be the length of your route that causes the crashes?

Not possible since the route is only 17 miles long. I'm able to run routes like the CSX mainline with errors. i think it could be related to the draw distance. There is always a skip when the horizon is being drawn. I prolly only get able 200 miles on this laptop. Hopefully when I have the money I can buy the Alienware laptop so I can do the entire route.

I wouldn't buy Alienware. It's overpriced and you only pay for the brand.
A good desktop PC is much cheaper and has more power.

Interesting, but I need a laptop to take with me, and do all my work and games.

I second this... but if you need a laptop there are others out there. When Alienware was bought by Dell it dropped in quality.

I'll be interested to see if more power helps that problem; my Asus G73J seldom has an SBH error, but it hasn't solved the "heavy load" problems. Sure, it runs RW much faster (which makes me happy!), but the more stress you put on it, the hotter it gets. This thing has two powerful fans that pour heat out of two large vents like a small space heater, but it still overheats when I load big routes or heavy scenery (my own town, for example). I keep an auxilary fan with me.

I think the problem though, is due to the design of RW... it's the CPU side of the laptop that overheats; the graphics card side only gets mildly warm. As I understand it from you guys, the way it is now, RW is processing the ENTIRE game, video and all, on the CPU. If/When the RW base code gets redesigned to properly utilize the 1GB graphics half of this machine, I think the processor will quit overheating. Few other G73J owners report overheating problems like I have.

Still, if, like me, you must have a laptop, then I recommend the Asus over the Alienware... more horsepower for the buck... less $$$ wasted on "frill" (used to love Dell, but they've gotten too "hip" for me; don't need some of those "cutesy" things on my computer; it's a M-A-C-H-I-N-E, not a fashion accessory, lol).

Gaming laptops are getting better; this Asus impresses me. If you upgrade, let us know how it works out.

Have I seen this FLS car before? I like it.

What did you decide about your trees? I'm waiting for the block asset feature. I feel at this point, using the present trees will excellerate a route's obsolescence when the nicer objects come out. Though I really miss the trees when driving the Alleghany, the track is still the most important thing about a route, so I am spending my time on that and waiting patiently. I don't want to waste hundreds of hours on trees now when I can do them in a few days sometime later this year (even if it's December).

The situation is unfortunate for now, but it's great to know the block asset tool is coming. It's great that RSC keeps improving the sim.

Well I still haven't decided completely on whether or not to go ahead and do some of the trees manually. I want to wait, but on the flip side you don't want alot of time to pass without doing some of the work manually. So I'm going half and half. Hopefully I can get to jacksonville without problems, but yeah my laptop isn't the greatest

Nvidia Geforce 8200M
3GB Ram (2GB Usable)
32 Bit Windows 7 Home
AMD Athlon Dual-Core QL-64 2.10 GHz

One thing that won't change is the tree/grass work alongside the tracks, so I am going ahead and doing the first 20-50 yards to either side. That is enough individual-tree work for me.

I am with Tori on the ASUS. I have a G72 that I game with and it's a beast of a PC with a dedicated vid card as hers is. They are cheaper than an Alienware (as pointed out, now owned by Dell) and have that bang for the buck.

Tori, have you tried a chill mat to put under your laptop to help keep it cool?
