This is gonna be awesome to see (I'm presuming you will release it) as my grandfather worked on the railroads in "the territory of Arizona" meaning before statehood. Lived in a Pullman car as the tracks were being laid. Grampa had some stories to tell, God rest his soul. !!*ok*!!

The good old Wild West. I can hear some trainrobbers approaching on their horses. :D

I see you listen to the appropriate music (in the background).

I plan to release it as freeware here and at trainsim.

This is actually my first route.

If someone would make some freeware horse, and horse and buggy it would be even better.

Here's a couple more pictures of progress.

The route will have gigantic mountains and thin cliffs, not enough room for a double track, just barely enough room for a single track.
The engineer's of that time period up in the mountains would have hated rainy days because it would have sometimes caused erosion which made the cliff the track ran on extremely weak and dangerous. Which sometimes resulted in terrible train crashes in the 19th century.

Here's one more picture for now.

I will add some more soon.

This is one of the routes that makes a Big Boy steam locomotive look like a toy train.

Looks great so far. !!*ok*!!

The only suggestion I have is to change the tracks to something that's looks a bit more period correct. I don't think they had concrete rail ties back in the 1800s or early 1900s.

That's about the only track that's available. That's the freeware track from 3d trains.

Quality track is always the best looking. As well, it would be quite hard to run that track again.

I'll have to switch the track to the wood version as I go on, since that track has a slight climb to it it's very hard to redo.

Well it's ok since the end user can always change the track if they feel like it.

BTW, it is possible to change out all the track in the route without having to redo it all. You just need RW_Tools. Here's a tutorial on how to do it:

You can also select the track and change it from the right fly out... but its time intensive.

it is looking prety good for an early WIP, but i do have some recomendations/thoughts that i thought i would throw in there.

1. i would recomend changing the bridge to the tallest one avalable since a bridge with that long of a span needs all the extra support when a train crosses it.

2. I would also recomend that you smooth out the tops of your mountains to something a bit bigger and not as pointy. i am shure you will address this because this is only in it's early stage and you are getting the feel of route bulding still.

3. Now looking at the yard in the town i would say to add a Wye at the end so you have some place to turn your steamers around, this would be very prototipical of the general area and the time period being modled. If you are having issues with corrners not being tight enough on your track from 3DTrains, on the right flyout you will see a slection that says mainline, click on the slector beside it and select yard, that rule will give the tightest turn radius which i find perfict for this era.

!!*ok*!! great job for your first route!
