Hello ,

Here is a small progress update on the project. Tracks have just reached CP Conemaugh, so i am slowly but surely getting "there". Im really enjoying building this route, although i wish i had more time to spend on it. Again, a small update on the progress, hope you like it. In case you missed the first announcement of the route head over to viewtopic.php?f=31&t=1252

I agree... stunning scenery. How did you plop your trees and how are the frame rates? I've been holding out for the new tree decals but maybe there's a better way??

Hi guys and gals,

Again thank you all for the kind comments .

Tori, regarding the trees. I use an asset called Tree Oak Slope Mid 01 or 02, cant remember their difference. This a bunch of trees, in a kinda circle.( all these trees count as one single object ) What i do is, bunch them together on the hill sides, following the terrain as much as possible, i pitch them so that they blend into the sides of the hills. When you line a hill side with these it looks natural i think. Framerates are actually quite good, here are some examples, the pic with the CP unit comes out to 48fps, the wye at South Fork 48 fps, the South Fork secondary yard 52fps. Not sure if these fps drops when running trains, they probably will drop somewhat.

Building a route with lots of hills with forests, this can take some time :-( We really really, and i mean really need that technical update that will eliminate this process. I miss the forest regions of MTS .

My hardware,

XP with 3 gb Ram
Intel E8500 Duo Overclocked at 3.7 Ghz ( Guess this helps alot on FPS )
Geforce GTX 275
Intel SSD

Talk to you soon.

Thanks

Wow, beautiful shots of this awesome route! !!*ok*!! !*brav*! !*brav*! Really looking forward to it! Totally agree about the technical update for procedural flora... the tree groups work well, but really take a lot of time with hills.

Just reached the Johnstown area. This will be one place on the map that will be hit hard in regards to FPS....

Thanks again guys. Appreciate it.
