Derek, how many liveries do you have in mind for the GP-9? Is it 10 (like in the SW1500 add-on)?

What really makes the GP-9 stand out compared to the SW1500 is that a lot of fallen flag railroads used them (where in the opposite scenario) a lot of railroads that exist today use SW1500s. And since GP-9s are older, they served a different time period (from the 1950s to about the 1980s on most major railroads).

If you are doing 10, I recommend you do the following:

Wabash
Pennsylvania Railroad
Nickel Plate Road
Santa Fe (blue bonnet)
Santa Fe (zebra stripe)
Southern Pacific (bloody nose)
Western Pacific
Chicago & Northwestern
Denver & Rio Grande
Union Pacific

I recommended these liveries not necessarily because they're my favorite, I know that Railsimulator.com can legally do these liveries. Feel free to correct me if any of these 10 railroads never had GP-9s, I'm pretty sure they all did.

If I didn't limit myself to only 10 proposed liveries, I would've stuck BNSF and Burlington Northern in there in a heartbeat Erik. The thing is though, this is a golden opportunity for Railsimulator.com to produce many cool fallen flag liveries that they haven't made before, especially a lot of fallen flag railroads you'd see on something like postwar-era Lionel trains (back in the era when GP9s were in full swing on the famous railroads).

If they do Southern Pacific, I'd much rather have the black widow scheme instead of bloody nose.

That depends on what era you want to run. Personally I would like both, but if I had to choose I would want the bloody nose since that is what would be running on my route in SP's twilight years.

It will be nice to see C&O, IC, N&W units, because C&O had one of the largest fleets with llinois Central (IC had a lot of its geeps rebuilt) and N&W - all of them had more than 300 GP9s. (I still insist on my NYC long hood forward unit *!greengrin!* )

Spaking of Illinois Central, do you know what I really want to see for Railworks one day?

The route of the City of New Orleans in its golden years. God and then you could play the famous song together with the train.

I really like your idea here. I'd love it if Railsimulator.com could make the Memphis to New Orleans route (the route that Illinois Central used to run on and now Canadian National and Amtrak use, I call it the "Mississippi Line"). Maybe if it was set in the Illinois Central days, an Illinois Central GP-9 could be included with it.

Railsimulator.com:
"
GP9 COMING IN MAY
The GP9 diesel locomotive will soon be available for RailWorks 2 Train Simulator. Built by the General Motors Electro-Motive Division (EMD) between 1954 and 1959, these 1,750-horsepower diesel-electric locomotives were put to use across the whole of the United States, Canada, Mexico and South America. More than 3,400 examples were built, making the 4-axle ‘Geep’ one of the best-selling US locomotives of all time. A number of GP9s remain in service today on short lines and industrial facilities, and as switchers for the major railroads, though they can be difficult to spot as they have mostly been extensively rebuilt. This versatile locomotive will be a great add-on for US railfans, and will be available for RailWorks 2 in May.
"
And look at the picture besides the announcement: http://www.railsimulator.com/newsdetail.php?Ref=273
It seems we'll get the black widow. !*YAAA*!

I wish they make long hood forward unit and a unit with dynamic brake, because this will make the model more versital.

This was the C&O's #1 standard for years. It's also what I grew up watching from the porch working the yards. All the manifests, work trains, locals, and coal drags used them almost exclusively and they even pulled some passenger trains before that business was gone. I think I saw somewhere that the C&O had owned 1 or 2 hundred of them. They remained as yard switchers well into the 80's in the Clifton Forge yards and I think there are still a couple on the roster.

I wonder if a CSX license for RSC also allows them to make C&O, B&O, Chessie, and Western Maryland products?

It would since CSX owns all of those trademarks. It think they also (partially) own the license for Conrail since they split it with Norfolk Southern. The problem is getting the license from CSX *!rolleyes!*

CSX doesn't have a problem licensing the use of their current or past roads. All it takes is an inquiry.
Cheers!
