Update.. Rust in place, more graffiti, skirt started to match loco body.

And this has been my inspiration for this.. Just add about 10 more years to it. :)

Wishful thinking for gp9 repaints but with a little touch up from dogmouse or styckx ImageImageImageImage

Especially the Amtrak ones, they would fill up the "comming soon" NEC 30st yard nicely!

Holy crap, #7272 has seen better days. I guess as long as it still starts up, they'll keep running it.

Nice work on the "rust bucket" Sty! Like the graffiti. !!*ok*!!

Dick, I agree completely. I have always thought that way and have a few times in the past tried creating "that look" and failed each time. It isn't easy to do because human nature is revolved around patterns. It is easy to throw rust and wear on stock but to do it in a way that looks like nature did it is hard. Nature has no patterns, or predictable behavior. My attempts in the past looked like a human painted it on and not father time and nature. So while they looked "worn" they also came across about as real as those pre worn out Levi's people buy. :)

It would raise the visual appeal of RW, which if some remember. was the attractive reason for many to give it a try in the first-place!

I too love a bit of rust ( technique test paint ) & grunge ( although I like my stock in working condition, so rather more grunge than rust ) ... it is quite amazingly hard to get right though. I have nothing anywhere near close to what Bill's achieved so far.

I agree it is looking great.
If you want it to look natural start the rust around the joins/welds and rivot sections. This is where most objects start to fail as they are the weak points (tiny fractures where units were drilled or worked)

All of this takes time, creating 15 liveries took an extra 14 days and that is just the basics with light weathering. To go further takes time, but I agree that some kind of procedural age/dirt would be great. One day I'm sure we will have something like that.
