Well done :) you're right about the weathering, although a good selection of photoshop brushes ( or whatever else you use ) goes a long long way. Not that you need 'em...

I tend to use very off-white for white, quite grey/cream depending how faded or dirty it is; white will do exactly what you say and go washed out. I have no idea why it'd be going transparent, alpha channel for a body texture will be the specular level. I'll go look at the bumpmap now I can get to it.

White lines at the end need a little bump downwards :)

Bumpmap is diffuse3.nm/.nmc, UV mapping should be exactly the same so you can slide it in as a layer in your paint package to get your additions lined up.

Thanks Kali

I played around with the white and overlayed a off white (added 20% black) to see if that helped. As well, I darkedend the Alpha channels even more (brightness -150 on Photoshop). It seemed to help but not totally eliminate the blooming in the center of the long hood at the logo. I suspect it may also be the program and how it renders in that particular lighting. Don't know.

I'll look into the bumpmaps further.

You will get a bit of bloom whatever happens, I think; I suspect you'd need to edit the weather to get rid of it. I assume you've got ingame bloom off :p Oddly the logos in these two used to wash out to bright cream in RW2, and they're fine now. The boxcar logo is 13% transparent with a faint yellow colour overlay and some sort of dark red noise overlay also, so it's not really very white anymore. I can't find the caboose psd :(

Yeah I suspected it may be the weather settings. Considering high noon with clear skys is not the most flattering light and worse case senario.

BTW, I fixed the registery problem on the long hood. Everything on the left side lined up with the rear so I just adjusted the right side up.

Great CN paints. I'm a CN fan so I appreciate them. !!*ok*!!

Needed to work out the new TrainDecal shader for the number thingy... actually just did that earlier, sadly no real improvement for child objects. Now to make the rest of it work. Also waiting on Michael to update his modern boxes!
