There's a story behind this one. My in-laws used to drink this out of quart bottles while they were watching TV. They were some of the nicest people I ever met and were a railroad family. He worked for the Milwaukee Road his whole life. She cooked at one of our local taverns and he tended bar there on weekends and a evening or two during the week. He said during the depression he always felt guilty about having two jobs when there were so many not working but then he wasn't sure if he was going to keep either so he stayed at both. Great people. In their memory even though they have been gone a long time.

Buzz there is no better way to honor people than by remembering them. And even better sharing that in such a way that makes them come alive to those that the remembrance is shared with.

Two really good posts this week that bring the human element back into our simulator: Buzz with the story of the Drewrys reefer and his in-laws, and minerman with his dad helping out testing the U34CH. It helped bring some perspective back for me as to why we, as a community, are here. *!!thnx!!*

Like many American brewery's in the 80's and 90's, Old Style was bought out by many of the foreign invaders. They immediately changed the flavor of the beer that was a major Chicago brand. Overnight, people abandoned Old Style. La Cross Wis was never the same again. foreign buyers also destroyed Stroh's beer.!*cheers*!
By the way, Fantastic looking Reefers.

Inbred, err, I mean InBev, another foreign invader, destroyed Budweiser. I would say South African Breweries destroyed Miller, but it was pretty much rotten to begin with. Have a Yuengling fella's - always has been and still is American.

Interesting to see some of these old box cars. I see the cans almost every day.

Funny how things go around & around. Now it's back under a Milwaukee Beer Company. I thought Schlitz was being made by Strohs, with St Mary's River pee water, in Detroit. I remember the hole it left in Milwaukee when Schlitz left. They did some good things. For Years Schlitz sponsored the "Great Circus Parade" in Milwaukee & the Circus World Museum in Baraboo Wis, and helped the Mid-Continent Railway Museum restore CNW #1385 to pull the Circus train.

I am shocked there are not any Hamm's beer drinkers around. I loved the commercials with the Hamms Bear. I see some Hamms signs at bars here in Portland Or. Also the talk about the "Pride of Tummwater" Olympia, reminded me another good marketing campaign. Rainier Beer had with it's herd of "Rainiers" (People dressed in Rainier Beer Bottles), roaming the Northwest. Or the the commercial, with a shot of motorcycle rolling down a road in the Mt Rainier N.P., and sound of the motorcycle shifting gears to: "Rain" (1st) - "Near" (2nd) - "Beer" (3rd). !*cheers*! !!jabber!!
