the Garratt locomotive: an ugly Iron Caterpillar that eats coal, belches smoke and will never become a flutterby. thank goodness.
Does anyone know anything, anywhere as to who might have built one of these wonderful monsters for running on TS2013? It's one of my big wishes to haul tonnage in one across the Karoo someday. If they don't exist yet; are there any rumors of someone working on such a thing?
and while wishing out loud, does anyone know of a T1 being built anywhere? or the Trans-Siberian Railroad? (I'm serious about this last one; I would actually play a well made route of it, and I suspect I'm not alone in this)

I asked RSC about doing the Gresley Garratt not too long ago, they sounded quite receptive to the idea given that this loco was designed and built for use on the Woodhead route.

A couple of years back (more-or-less), I ran across a post on UKTS by somebody in the Narrow Gauge section who was building one of the Tasmanian K1s. I haven't checked on it since then, but it should be easy enough to find, given that UKTS keep their old posts around.

I'm not much for English locomotives, but this is one engine that I'd love to have in the sim. I think it would make a very interesting engine to run.

We can't forget about the Aussie version of the Garratt;

That's EXACTLY the type of monster I'm interested in, Admiral.

Don't get too close to it, Captain Crane.

Good lord, "monster" describes that beast perfectly! Holy snizzle!

Don't know of anyone working on one, tho.

If I remember rightly the majority were built for use in Africa. Interesting locos, a completely different approach to articulation than Mallet compounds and Challenger-style simple expansion locos.
