EMD SD7 Conrail

Unread postby GreatNortherner » Wed Nov 28, 2012 8:59 am

Hi,

Here's a new model of the SD7 -- Conrail's 6998 and 6999. Both are the two former Pennsy SD7s, to my knowledge the only two of this type that the PRR, PC and later CR ever owned. If I interpeted the PRR blueprints correctly they ran long hood forward -- anyway that's how I set them up.

This model should come ready to run, and probably requires TS2013 since the textures got exported with the new asset editor. If somebody is still running RW3/TS2012, please proceed with caution. This model might crash your RW. Please let me know if it does (or if it doesn't!), so I can get a better understanding of how backwards compatible the TS2013-exported stuff is.

In any case, you'll need the KujuUS assets to run this engine. New TS2013 will have to get those through a Steam DLC, either the "US Community Assets Pack" or some of the older DLC routes.

You can download the engine here: http://golden-age-rails.com/packsrw/emd-sd7.html

Pennsylvania and Penn Central versions are coming soon!

Could you also do a BM&O version, Baltimore, Mobile & Ohio version as well, love BM&O since I live in Mobile, the BM&O used to run through here.

Thanks for the kind words! I had no idea that Conrail had such a big fan base. !!*ok*!!

I'd like to add a few more words about this paint version and also the upcoming PRR / PC units... some of you may remember that Arnold Andressen was working on SD7 repaints of those three railroads a few months ago. His repaints looked almost finished in his last screenshots, and I certainly don't want to step on his toes by releasing the same roadnames myself. Unfortunately, I haven't heard anything from him since July and he also hasn't posted anything here any more, so I've decided to have a go at those three railroads now.

Cheers,
Michael

Michael,
That is great to hear. Yes I am a bit disapointed that the versions done by Arnold were never posted. The Pennsylvania and PC unites would be great with the current version of the Horse Shoe Curve. Looking forward to those units. I did install the conrail units and did a little with free roam last night.
