just copy all the files to your dash9 audio folder ( Railworks/Assets/RSC/Dash9Pack01/Audio/Dash9) and overwrite them but do not forget to make an back up

Are these engines really that quiet in prototype? Both the stock and your Dash 9/ES44 are quiet engines compared to the SD40-2.

I have never been near one, let alone inside the cab. The few modern Diesels I encounter here in the Netherlands are all quiet also, sealed engine compartment, exhaust silencers, moiseless radiator fans, etc. etc. You can hear the AC traction quite clearly over the noise of the prime mover. However, since the average US Diesel is about 4000 HP, or more than twice as powerful as the standard here, I expect them to be louder.

One thing I did notice with most modern Diesels is that it is the midrange to higher end of their audio spectrum that is silenced. When accelerating away, or passing by under full power, one can almost feel the low frequencies rumble your stomach. Damping low frequencies is considerably more difficult using sheet steel hoods, doors etc.

I suppose modern US Diesels must meet some EPA standard, right?

Do the Dash-9 and ES series make the same sound and noises or are they dependent on number of cylinders, etc.?

I think you provided us with a good engine sound pack, it sounds quite good with the lone powered Dash 9 struggling uphill on the way to Ooltewah in NSAND's Dalton Delivery scenario. You didn't change the dynamic brake fans sound, did you? RSC also forgot the fact that the prime mover needs to rev up to provide dynamic braking power.
When setting myself on the ground using the 4 key one can hear the sound change quite dramatically as the engine appraches, roars by and passes to the next vantage point.

How do they sound in multiple, Dejoh? No mutual interference and unwanted attenuation/cancellation of the individual engines? Haven't tried a m.u. lashup yet.

Sorry, I added the horn from the great horn package. The frieght going by sounds fantastic, compared to the default.
Very happy with the upgrades and add-ons coming from some very talented people. *!!thnx!!*

What wuld be the appropriate horn for units operation on Cajon Pass?
I would like to give each road its own horn sound, though it is very arbitrary and a matter of personal preference as well
UP?
BNSF?

I like the way the Gevo burbles away in notch zero, a.ka. idle/stationary, you can almost hear each cylinder fire

Both should be K3LAs.

Does that mean a three chime horn? The Dash 9 has a five bell horn mounted.
Not that this really matters, it is the sound that matters.
And yes, those K3LA's sound great, a real blare. Nice Doppler effect on passing by while tooting also.

Updated: I do have a small problem now, my ES44's now have the same engine sound as the Dash 9. I believe the ES44 sound pack I installed a while ago is partly aliased to the Dash 9 sounds, but the ES44 uses different environmental sounds. It is even more alive than the Dash 9 with all those hisses, clicks, creaks and rattles.

Nope, ES44AC 10-Engine Sound Pack (is that?) didn't alias to Dash9. What I did for my own use, and posted the formula here on RWA, is how to alias Dash 9 to ES44AC, because default RSC's sounds of either ES44AC and Dash 9 are (quite) the same. Maybe you aliased, and don't recall. *!!wink!!*

A 5 chime is modeled on there, but completely incorrect. Trust me, I'm a horny guy. http://www.youtube.com/user/BNSF5608?feature=guide
