Two Big Horn BN/CBQ Scenario Updates

Unread postby GreatNortherner » Tue Mar 13, 2012 11:30 am

Hi,

Two of my old CBQ and BN scenarios for the Big Horn are now available again, updated for the new version of the route and correcting all the missing and outdated rolling stock.

I may have gone a bit nuts with the number of add-ons I've used, but I'm a big fan of the Hill Lines so I wanted to get the consists as nice and correct looking as possible. So please have RW_Tools at hand, you probably want to replace some equipment. :D

BN Sheridan Sawmill Switcher
Service the Sawmill at Sheridan Yard. Medium Difficulty, 45 minutes.

CB&Q Kleenburn Mine Switcher
Work the coal mine loadout at Kleenburn, do a transfer run to Monarch. Medium Difficulty (but "hardcore switching"), up to 60 mins.

Another two Big Horn Runs

Unread postby GreatNortherner » Wed Mar 14, 2012 1:11 pm

Hi,

Here are two more old Big Horn scenarios that just got updated and bugfixed:

Coal Drag (westbound coal unit)
quite simple, run from Sheridan to Parkman, with a little surprise along the way
http://golden-age-rails.com/scenario.ht ... te120314-1

Coal Empties (eastbound empties)
take an empty coal hopper train down Parkman Hill and stop at Sheridan Yard for a crew change. This is a very simple A-B run.

Both scenarios are set in early BN times, so there will be plenty of colorful 'rainbow' consists of old CBQ and newly painted BN equipment, plus the some 'visitors' from the the other old Hill Lines that are beginning to spread over the BN system.

Cheers,
Michael

I just discovered that track yesterday. It's awesome! Amoungst other things I love that it blends so well, even the ballast! It's a pitty we have to use the same track type for turnouts because it would look amazing having a rusty overgrown track running off an in-use mainline with blending.

Two questions about the coal westbound scenario.
1) Did you intend to use the lead and trail units instead of the simple units?
2) Is there an update to the SAL GP7? RW tools reports that the lights are missing and I have no horn.

Hi,

Yes, the use of Lead and Trail Units is intentional.
Lead Units = Expert Mode, Dave's Custom Input Mapper, Engineer in cab
Trailing = Nobody in Cab

The SAL GP7 has been updated too, thanks to Mike Calvin, and is available right here in the F/L.

Just did the coal drag scenario, Michael. Once again, let me say how nicely you've captured this area. Really made me nostalgic. And I enjoyed the monkey wrench you threw into what looked like a straight run. Very nice. I never really got above 40 mph hauling all those heavy coal cars, and was often enough down in the 20s. Very realistic scenario. Thanks.
