MaineLines Boxcars, Reefers and Covered Hoppers upgrades

These are patches for all cars and repaints that can be installed in MaineLines.

Description

These patches include corrections to
- names
- brakes
- weight
- sound
- script
- softshadows
- couplings

A total of 351 wagons have been patched (not including loaded versions).
The package is now available here:
http://railworksamerica.com/index.php/d ... k-repaints

You don't have to own all wagons, the patches are executed only on the installed wagons by using a script.

I started this project two months ago because I had problems with some repaints not running, no sound and no loaded version and the simulated behavior was unrealistic. By changing some data on the brakes I got cars that have a longer braking distance loaded than unloaded. The patches of the brakes are not quite realistic, but considerably better. Other inconsistencies I have changed at the same time.
Please contact me if you see any room for improvements !

In detail:

All cars have been renamed according to a uniform scheme, so that their name is more quickly recognizable in the editor.

Brakes:
The brakes have been corrected so that the braking distance is more realistic and loaded cars have a significantly larger braking distance than empty cars.

Weight:
The weight of the empty wagons was determined after the inscription of the original wagons of MaineLines.
A loaded version is added to all wagons.

Sounds:
The sounds are fully quickdrive compatible, which means that the folder WJ Sound\Wagons\ does not have to be activated anymore. The sounds are no longer dependent on Sherman Hill, but use the bogie sound in MaineLines itself.

Script:
The wagon script from https://www.store.searchlight-simulatio ... t-detector has been added.

Softshadows:
Some wagons ask for texture files called "softshadow.TgPcDx though some they are missing. I made the textures lighter to match the cars without softshadows.

Couplings:
Made the standard couplings stiff.
Completed the entries for the couplings in the wagon blueprints of the covered hoppers.

Installation

Install the package Mainelines-Patches_kris120_2021-02-17.rwp with utilities.exe, which is located in your RailWorks\ folder ( C:Steam\SteamApps\Common\RailWorks\ ).

Go to MaineLines in Explorer ( often in c:Steam\SteamApps\Common\RailWorks\Assets\MaineLines\ ).
Run the script Install-BP-patches.cmd with a doubble click.

After the script has run you will be asked if you want to keep the script and the patches in MaineLines\x\.
I recommend to keep them if you still want to install rolling stock older than mid February 2021.
Do not use the MaineLines\x\ folder in scenarios, the wagon blueprints it contains are functionless at this location.

If you don't like the softshadows, you may install the original ones:
Goto x\ , rename softshadow-ori.TgPcDx to softshadow.TgPcDx
and run the script "Install-BP-patches.cmd" a second time.

Have fun and report your experience.

Kris

Thank you for your hard work! This should make for a nice quality of life update and would be nice if Larry himself makes it official.

Kris has kept me posted on his work and I have tested his updates on many of my cars with good results. My latest release, the Frisco insulated boxcar, includes his modifications if you would like to test it out.

Thanks for your kind words, Larry.
I hope I could add all what lots of us were missing from Larry's cars and the lots of repaints we may run now.
These huge amount of repaints are like a big library, and that's the value of these cars.

On some of them I have adjusted and tested the brakes so that you still have a chance to stop on a downhill pass. With even weaker brakes it would have been impossible to stop.
I could not test all cars, so I encourage you to do brake and drive tests with these cars and report any discrepancies.
I can readjust the brakes relatively quickly via script in all cars.
By editor alone you would be lost...
