WofA GP9's

Hello everyone. I have just uploaded my first repaints to Railworks America of the RSC GP9 into the two unit's owned by the Western Railway of Alabama. These are dedicated to my Great-Great Uncle Pete and my Grandfather Warren H. Caldwell. Both of whom worked for the WofA. And to my Uncle Warren H. Caldwell Jr., whom got me hooked on trains in the first place. They are gone, but never forgotten.

And a special Thank You to Buzz (buzz456)! He did a repaint for me a while back and he was kind enough to give me permission to use the lettering he made for that unit on these.

Good work! I've railfanned the WofA many times from Selma, AL, to Montgomery, AL. BTW, the WofA had a neat, curved yard in Selma. It wasn't a busy route, but it was fun to watch.

Yeah, I'm in Montgomery myself and have "explored" the former WofA shops, shed and site of the roundhouse. I still have the video tape from when the A&WP #290 came to Montgomery back in 1992.

I was there for the #290 also and have some slides. My wife and I lived in Selma in the mid-70's and we had family in Montgomery. One of my favorite places to explore was the former ACL Day Street Yard. The tracks were long gone but the back shop buildings were there including the pit for a transfer table. I've thought about modeling the ACL Montgomery - Dothan Sub in the late steam/early diesel era. Just the operations around the Union Station would be worth the build.

That would be awesome Harry! We have not had a good route like that since the old MM Route that was on MSTS. There is the Decatur Junction route, but it has missing assets. That reminds me, did you get the p.m. that I sent you about that?

I was there as well. Boarded the #290 with the wife and kids for the ride. They had a blast.

The old coach yard, paint shop, railroad grounds, etc. are being renovated into a “concert/tourism” place....

Wow! The last time I explored that area it was so overgrown I could hardly get around. Glad to see an effort to preserve another piece of Montgomery's history. Thanks for the update.
