Live Weather (METAR Decoder) Mod

Unread postby Alpenfreight » Sun Jan 08, 2017 11:08 am

Hey all,

Here is the initial release of my weather decoder. Please let me know if there are any bugs! I've tested quite a lot of weather so far and all seems good!

Just a thought, but could you also provide the XML for the source file? Then we could edit and export using the BP Editor.

Im not too familiar with the BP editor. Basically I use this to replace the RW_Clear theme in the RailSimulator/Core/Weather folder. This way quickdrives using the "Clear" theme actually use the real METAR conditions.

Easy to set up before each drive and gives me a new look and feel every time!

New Update today

https://alpenfreight.wordpress.com/port ... r-decoder/

v1.5
- Added a few exceptions to stop rain from occurring on non-raining days
- Added an option to set a max viewable distance (Defaults to 10 miles). This can be used to set where the blue fog appears on a clear day. I believe 10 miles looks accurate due to the short render distance in Railworks to begin with. If you have a route with good textured mountains then this can perhaps be set further.
- Added a field to rename the weather pattern.

I still can't get this to work, so I followed the steps, but I have a custom route, in the route I want to input the weather in.. I don't have a "weather" folder so i created one put the .xml .bin file in there. is there a Youtube tutorial for this by any chance?

You can put the weather file in the Kuju/RailSimulatorCore/Weather folder and it should be accessible by any route

oh okay got it, so I have one more question. location 2 metar 2 I guess, when does that one take effect, like for example I chose the Seattle Washington aiport meter KSEA showing overcast with snow, and chose another like KMDW Chicago Midway Airport Meter. with partly cloudy, how would that work?

You can set the time between the two as one of the main options. This is the time that they will start transitioning. As far as I can tell the full transition takes about 10 - 15 mins.
