New York Division - Croxton Ordinary

Tonight I find myself at a strange crossroad - I finally brought the Erie Lackawanna back to life, but my route is not finished. The EL version is definitely not started. I find that I need to get a finalized route ready for scenarios to run beautiful grey, maroon and yellow locomotives all over it.
But I have an idea...

The Bergen Line as it stands is 19 miles from being completed as a Norfolk Southern/ New Jersey Transit route. I am, as always, just months away. This route will terminate in Campbell Hall, NY and be 62 miles long and connect two yards: Croxton and Campbell Hall. This gives you the modern era route with all of NS operations on it.

The dream is to build the entire New York Division - 89 miles - there are a ton of challenges with this ... in particular DLC. I am out of buildings to make the next 27 miles look like the place. The makes me very unhappy. I had hoped to petition DTG to give me access to DLC to do this, but they are not interested in a "workshop" route being made into DLC. If what I propose next, works, I will ask them to consider development of a 1970s era Erie Lackawanna route as a formal proposal in the future.

So, what can we do today. What would satisfy my desire to bring the Erie Lackawanna back to life. What would also satisfy my need to see this route used, and to see the complexity first hand of what my father described regarding operations on this division.

The PROPOSAL:

What I suggest is this: Copy the Bergen Line and release it (The Copy) to have a stable platform to build scenarios on. [i]Travel by Train /i] would be able to continue to develop rolling stock and other locomotives for this "scenario builders" version of the Bergen. This means YOU will be able to develop scenarios and PLAY scenarios on the Bergen In the coming weeks. I can continue building the dream or just retire and move to Costa Rica. But we would have a working, playable version of the Bergen now... think of it!

Can I count on your support in the coming days? Will you go over the route with a fine tooth comb? Would you be willing to assist in development and upvote this new workshop route so it can be finalized rapidly? Will you, my friends, help me to make this come true?

I have proposed this to Martin and he is with me. Let me tell you - I am seeing some of the stuff he is working on and it simply MUST be enjoyed on this route.

Did some one say its over for the Bergen?

Well ... I think not...

What? Over? Did you say 'over'? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!...
It ain't over now, 'cause when the goin' gets tough, the tough get goin'. Who's with me? Let's go! Come on!...
woooooooooooo!

(My 'murican insides are killing me !*roll-laugh*! )
But honestly, why didn't DTG give you permission to make it a dlc? Because it's a "Workshop route"? That's not smart. They are certainly missing out on a great deal here! *!mad!*

It was always going to be a 60s-70's E-L route for me anyway so go ahead and finalize it as is and then make whatever you want for the 70s. I'll vote up anything you do. And it will be nice to have some variety of new scenarios too. And I'll be waiting for the SD-35 with PayPal ready.

Overshoe it was always 1972 for me. I went with 1974 to have the Stillwells/E8s and Comet/U34CH. Visually there is no difference from 1963 to 1976 in the track. Other than it deteriorating. There are some changes I want to make if there is enough time for me to 'turn the clock back'. If I had the assets I would have built EL that past 3 years. But I didn't, and there are now many happy NJT/NS guys out there running the route.

I'm nervous, I'm jerky and I am gearing up to copy the Bergen and release it for finalization.
There is some business to take care of, so lets get down to it.

I have some ideas for names. I am doing a few things here: referencing the core route, clarifying the purpose and throwing in some serious Erie Lackawanna freight references. If you have a better name - present with a brief explanation. After a day or so, I will post the results and make the decision.

The poll is here: http://strawpoll.de/542zbb1

The choices are below:

New York Division: The Hayshaker
Bergen Line: Scenario Builider's Edition
Bergen Line: Hayshaker
New York Division:Croxton Ordinary
Bergen Line: Croxton Ordinary
New York Division-Bergen Line: Hayshaker
New York Division-Bergen Line: Croxton Ordinary
New York Division-Bergen Line: Scenario Builder's Edition

After this I will discuss my plan and how I am going to "fix" the route for glorious EL (yeah and some Conrail too) action!

I know I put the bug in your head for the Moodna and Campbell Hall but I told you months ago you had more than enough, that would just be the cherry on top of what has to be one of the most beautiful routes I have seen. Another 27 -30 miles is almost another route in itself, plus more assets would probably help you with the Moodna. I say wrap this up so we can get some scenarios running on this thing and you take a breather and continue on fresh with assets you need.

As far as writing scenarios I am not that familiar with this route. I remember some of what we talked about of the operations at the Ford plant and how that worked but i need a refresher course. after the holidays let's get together again, more Black and Guinness is in order.

If there are specific operations you would like to see or whatever pops into your head write them down and I'll help bring them to life.

I would vote for Bergen Line: Hayshaker. Why? It's the shortest.

2nd choice: Bergen Line: Croxton Ordinary.

3rd choice (a suggestion:) Finalize it with the current route name and create a new name for the 1972 E-L version.

I voted for Number one but i also had two suggestions for names aswell.

The Hayshaker Division

or

The Hayshaker Line

Why? Both names include the both era's names. It doesn't prefer one or another but gets right in there in between both names!

The Scenario Builder's version of the Bergen Line has been released.
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =827078456

Lets see how this turns out. The plan is up vote and finalize this rout as quickly as possible. Martin of "Travel By Train" has requested access to the route to build scenarios for his new release. There has been a boat load of track work over the past month as preparations were made for this moment. I will be working on the route builders guide and some scenery modifications on the new route until there are the 24 votes needed to finalize. There will be no track changes to this route through finalization.

The Scenario Builders Edition is now online - Travel By Train has a route copy to develop his scenarios for the content he has developed and both will be available VERY shortly. Based on the votes, some unofficial suggestions, the route name has been chosen.

Work on the Croxton Ordinary is frozen for the moment- until I get a call for fixes.

This is the place to talk about it if you are so inclined! !*YAAA*!

MM,
Couple questions for ya that I'm sure others might ask as well...

The Bergen Line that everyone has now, will this be staying online separate of the Croxton Ordinary, or will it be taken down once Croxton Ordinary is finalized?

Will the Croxton Ordinary have any updates to it once finalized?

Will the Croxton Ordinary eventually reach Campbell Hall?
