This is the DTG Soldier Summit Locomotive Physics Modification pack version 1.0
In order to utilize this freeware physics upgrade, you must have purchased the "Train Simulator: Soldier Summit Route Add-On" pack available at Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/277775/
This is a freeware pack; in no way is it to be used for commercial purposes. You are free, however to further modify the physics enhancements found in this pack for personal use if you so choose.
This is NOT a full sound mod pack. That full mod pack MAY be available separately from this one (if I deem it necessary to create one).
The purpose of this pack is to adjust the physics performance of the three diesel locomotives that come with the DLC (EMD GP9, EMD SD40T-2, & EMD F40PH-2).
List of general changes; specific changes for each specific locomotive located below: 1. Modified tractive effort and braking effort curves. 2. Modified power ratings @ alternator and @ wheel. 3. Modified fuel capacity. 4. Modified weights. 5. Removed coupler slack. 6. Adjusted rpm range and rate of change. 7. Adjusted locomotive load response times. 8. Created F40PH HEP mode locomotive ("nd" unit). 9. Fixed botched notch 8 values in F40PH engine sound proxyxml files. 10. Fixed botched idle & notch 8 values in GP9 engine sound proxyxml files.

IMPORTANT; Install Instructions
1. Locate SoldierSummit (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\DTG\SoldierSummit) 2. Open DTG_Soldier_Summit_Loco_Physics_Mod_Pack 3. Drag the file folder from the .rar in step 2 into the directory you opened in step 1. 4. The installation should be complete. Run TS2015 to check. 5. If installation is botched or does not work, to back up to original files, delete the folder from step 3.
Thank you for downloading and installing. Enjoy =)
Thanks for the mod. I downloaded it and installed using the provided directions, but when I started to run the first career scenario [F40PH] Eastbound Zephyr: Part 1 I get an error that it can't load Tracks.bin. Anyone else have this? I didn't unpack the .ap file, just copied the Audio and Rail Vehicles folders to the Soldier Summit folder specified. I have a different path but it runs just fine without the mod folders. Hope there's a solution. Best, Marc

if you get that error about the tracks.bin, it's because of a game code bug. Go into the scenario editor, click on any car in the consist (or even the locomotive) and switch its direction (and back again to the way it was, if you want). Then save the scenario and everything should be fine.

Thanks, Mike. I tried all that and it still didn't work. Then I thought about making all files and folders read/write, did that and still no luck. Then I removed the two new folders, unpacked the .ap file, then copied the two mod folders back, saying yes to overwrite. No joy. It appears the career scenario itself is not able to be modified:

I also just created a free-roam scenario using three D&RGW GP9s light from Provo and it ran just fine. As a final check I downloaded a Workshop scenario and tried that and it, too, is OK:

Got to be some characteristic of career scenarios that is incompatible with the mod. That's OK with me, though. I don't especially care to run career scenarios, too much pressure to perform. I like to have a work order to follow and no time pressure under which to finish it. Free roams are fun as well. Just my worth. Thanks for all the suggestions, the process has taught me something today about career scenarios.
P.S. - this is a beautiful route! Gonna spend some time on this one. Best, Marc

THis is not news. Physics mods usually break career scenarios, if I recall correctly. This is by design I think. Just copy the career scenario to a standard scenario.

Thanks, Chacal. Cloning the scenario with the default name of "Copy of <X>" works after editing and saving the cloned scenario. Interesting behavior for sure. Best, Marc

To elaborate further, the game detects changes to the physics for career scenarios in an attempt to prevent users from "cheating", as you can easily modify physics to increase adhesion, speed, etc, thus giving you an "advantage"; a higher chance of scoring more points...

Thanks a lot for the update; I'll run the Zephyr ASAP. Will you also update the old California Zephyr pack to be up to date like this one, and post the updated pack to File Library?

There are a lot of things that I have backlogged. Maybe one day, but as I have been saying; don't hold your breath.
