Hello Chris,
I downloaded the route and the X2200 train after seeing this thread and I have to say it is a great effort and well done to all concerned.
As I've never seen so many signals with all sorts of different types and combinations of colours you should definitely be seeing signals Chris. I know what you mean about google translate, it doesn't seem to like French, but from what I gathered from the installation pdf all the downloads had to be installed in a certain order. I also noted that if you had one of the signals packs downloaded before it had to be uninstalled before you installed the upgraded signals as it would cause conflicts. I hadn't installed previuos versions of this route so it didn't apply to me but it might the cause of you not seeing signals.
After spending every evening this week driving around this route and studying the French signalling system on the internet I still haven't got fully to grips with the KVB system and all the different signals. The French signals seem a wee bit over complicated to me anyhow, one thing I've learned is not all red signals mean stop! The supplied scenarios with the route seem to be set up with the intention of the player encountering every possible type and colour of a signal and believe me there are quite a few combinations. It is a challenge however to drive with the VA and KVB on and makes a pleasant change from a lot of the easy to drive locos and trains.
Here is the procedure to driving the train as I understand it, all the following might not be a 100% correct and all the terminology certainly isn't.
1\ Press 'Home'. This seems to turn on the trains electrical system and there will be lights flashing and whatnot.
2\ 'Shift + L'. Turns off the LSSF lamp, the main flashing light on the KVB board. This light seems to me to be something similar to the AWS sunflower on British trains.
3\ Press and hold 'Z' for a few seconds to turn on the engine.
4\ ', (Comma)'. Close QT (?).
5\ 'U'. 380v, I think this is not a implemented feature.
6\ 'Ctrl + F'. Starts (?) the brakes.
The train is now ready to move however if you want use the KVB system 14\1\071 has to be imputed into the wheels (?) on the KVB board. 'B' scrolls the numbers and 'Shift + B' moves through the wheels, there is a wee light under the wheels. When the numbers are right press 'J' and if everything is correct the VAL flashing button turns off.
The VA system is the dead mans pedal or DSD and is nicely implemented in the X2200 by holding the spacebar down. If the controls have not been moved for a minute a buzzer sounds and you have to release the spacebar and hold again.
The KVB system is disabled by 'Ctrl + F11' and the VA is disabled by 'Ctrl + F12' but they are the main feature of the X2200 and it would be a shame in my opinion not to use them.
Hope that helps.
Donal.
