A couple of VIA things and some hoppers

Unread postby bh762 » Wed Jul 09, 2014 9:02 pm

Was tinkering around with Don Crawford's VIA Canadian pack and ended up with this:
A refurbished VIA1 coach with upgraded interior for the business traveller, and wi-fi access (I know you can't see it, but trust me, it's there).

Also darkened the original textures of the pack to give them more of a realistic look:

And finally, some repaints of the cylindrical hoppers by GreatNortherner:

Via doesn't run on that line, do it wouldn't be prototypically correct. Hopefully my proposal on engine diver will be created. ( I still do run via on CMP's though *!embar*! )

Actually VIA did run over CP's line when VIA first came into service, in fact they ran over the line until just after they purchased the F40PH-2d's. This equipment would work well over the route if you backdate it to an earlier time.

I don't always run VIA on CMP, but when I do, I do it like this:

From pictures I've seen circa late '70's/early '80's, it would have been a fairly typical consist on that route.

The VIA1 coaches are a common sight on the Windsor-Quebec corridor. Would be awesome if someone modeled a portion of that. I should also mention that G-Trax and Don Crawford deserve 99.9% of the credit for these. I just changed a few things and tinted some windows. !*cheers*!

The reason I keep doing Canadian stuff is entirely down to getting on a train at Brockville for Montreal in about 1979, when I was a wee nipper ( 1979 was a really fantastic year to fly over on a DC-10 too... ); would be kinda nice to have something around the lakes/St Lawrence, area, yes. Chicago-Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal prhaps? ( ahem, good luck! ).
