yep, i am very impressed with the sounds, and the lights are great! (note the headlights go to a dim state when turned to off instead of going completely off and the lights on the long hood that are in the middle are on 24/7)

the only thing i dislike about this pack is the adjustment to the drivers seat which moves you to the left making it impossible to see behind you. (when you look down you are almost on top of the armrest lol)

Thank you for the input !!*ok*!!
However there are choices to be done, one may sacrifice other. The cabview (I'm an engineer trainsimmer, and live in cab 99% of time) is tweaked to see more of the gauges and instruments and to let you drive mouseless. How much of your time do you drive looking forward and looking behind, from in cab? IMHO it's not worth sacrifice the forward view (99% of itme?) to have a better backward view in engines like SD70, SD75, ES44 (in other engines like SD40-2, GP-9 etc. is possible make both views compatible).
And last but not least, that's why (looking behind) headout views exist, and my headout view is a bit far from window, so you can see more of the track (and vehicles) behind the engine. *!!wink!!*

Cheers,
Doc.

Ps.: if you rather use the default cabview almost smashing your nose in the windshield !*roll-laugh*! just PM me and I'll send you a cabview replacement to add into the package, no problem. *!!wink!!*

Do you mean RSC default? Don't recall.. and don't care, the first thing I do even before ride an engine in a scneario is enhance lighting and change cabview (and also mod the scenario to a darker time of day !*roll-laugh*! ). I'm batty engineer... *!greengrin!*

REALLY REALLY nice guys!!! *!!thnx!!*

Krell: the sounds are absolutely spot on; and having 10 different ones must have taken a ton of work to obtain.

Machinist: good job on the cab views. The big MAC in particular benefits from the new camera position, since you can now see the desktop controls without moving much. !!*ok*!!

These sounds are absolutely amazing. Fantastic work! You guys should get paid by RSC to have these included as the default.

RSC should also change the game so that you could have one or more sets of sounds, and when you enter the game it just automatically picked a different sound for each engine, instead of having to manually create 10 different locos.

The headlights aren't working for me however. I even tried backing up my railworks folder and downloading a fresh copy from steam, reinstalled the pack and still no headlights. I have the sounds and the new headview, but no headlights. Any ideas?

This is usually a problem when unzipping files with some older versions of zip tools, or using Win7 to extract (oddly it doesn't accept foders names longer than 256 charateres). Sometimes (Win version dependent) you see an error message when unzipping the file, sometimes don't. It looks extraction was fine, but in fact not all files were correctly extracted, this explains why you have missing headlights (but could be another asset).

This is why the installation's instructions are exclusively in the Readme.pdf where you can find the advice to use the option "Extract here", *!twisted!* instead of extracting to a folder. Using "Extract here" always works. *!!wink!!*

The lights and cabviews folder is this, check if it's there (36 files within):

...\railworks\Assets\Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\RailVehicles\WJDoc

Doc.

Mike, what keys are you using for the headlights? I find the "H" key only works once, after that I have to use "Shift" "H" to turn on and off the headlights.

Ah! good one Chris, may be that also... *!rolleyes!* Hitting H once turns headlight on (light 1, on F4), and pressing H again turns headlight off and rearlights on (light 2, on F4). Shift+H brings you back from light 2 to light 1, or from light 1 to no headlights.

Sometimes if you last a bit more when pressing the key you go directly to rearlights, but anyway you see the headlights flashing... !*don-know!*
If in the provided freeroam included in the pack the AI trains don't have headlights, than is missing the lighting files indeed.

Is it possible Mike thinks all the Sd70's should have lights. I thought that after Mike said he didn't have lights. The only locos that have the lights are the ones Doc loved up.

Maybe that also: so far only 3 engines (the default engine of each pack) have all the 9 Helpers and lighting. All liveries have the new loved sounds by Krellnut, however only the 3 defaults have all helpers and lighting.

As I said I'm working right now in a Expansion Pack wich will hold all SD70 DLC liveries with lighting and at least 3 helpers with sounds, see some posts above. !*salute*!

New features: in the cablight (can't be shown here, is better play and see) and the red (position?) marker projecting red lights (over the nose), of CN livery. *!!wink!!*

almost perfect, except there is a glow comming from the headlight of the DPU, when i see these running like this ONLY the red markers are on and the headlights are not visible in the dark.

*!!thnx!!* for the greetings.

Sorry, I didn't understand exactly what you meant. Which DPU, from midlle, or rear end, or any?
However, if I got it right, and If you are talking about real locomotives lights, is not possible to replicate this in RW3 due to the limited options availabe on the hard code. Sorry, this a game with limited codes, not always and not all can be done... The RSC SD70 even had lights, and now it has, isn't enough for you?

Krellnut said to me this week that nothing we do is perfect, we do the possible at the moment, however is always possible make it better someday, if is worth the efforts and the new result. I never strive for perfection, but I do the best I can at the moment instead.

Just got one new effect on headlights beam (when you are looking to the beam) closer to MSTS effect (optical ilusion that works very nice): a very bright and white colours, almost washing the area and creating a kind of halo around, giving the feeling of dazzling. All about lights in the 2D world (photography, TV, movies, games etc) are effects based in optical illusion to be seen from a certain distance, because (here and again) you have to take in account the average time and distance that effect wil be seen. Tomorrow I'll decide if I'll add the new effect (not that brigth) in the Expansion Pack, with a built-in patch to the other locos. !*salute*!

Doc.

Once is not possible to have all we want all the time, which one do you rather see most of time (not always) when playing the game? RSC, current or WIP version?

Krellnut said to me this week that nothing we do is perfect
and I meant it. I know my sounds aren't perfect, but I try to make them sound as realistic as possible. I love the WIP light Doc, If that can be done without to much work, and added to our existing pack. What you've achieved with lighting in this game is nothing short of amazing.
