Hi,
Thanks for all your replies here and by email!
The route loads, the signals seem to work, and it seems most of the crucial elements are 'behaving properly' too. That's all I wanted to hear!
There are a few "known issues" as of know. I'll try to address these before uploading the route to RWA, but if I don't catch all of them please keep in mind that this is still very much a work in progress.
There are now several errors or missing stuff that I'm aware of, thanks to your kind help.
Ordered by importance, these are:
- no freight transfer points at the elevators
- possibly missing bulk freight unload transfer at the smelter (will check that)
- missing terrain under the highway overpass at the west yard ladder
- messed up UV scrolling at Black Eagle dam waterfalls (some move way too fast, some move upwards)
- several buildings floating or sunk into ground in the urban area
- some terrain spills in the urban area
The first three will definately be addressed before the file library upload, the others may have to wait for the next version.
BTW: about the elevators. Closed hoppers were absolutely loaded there, though until well into the mid-20th century much of the grain was transported in boxcars, where they had either placed some wooden boards behind the door, or sometimes also cut a hole into the upper panel of the door to fill bin the grain. Sometimes you can see these grain doors on old pictures of 40' and 50' boxcars.
This here
http://www.modelerschoice.com/articles.html (discovered by googling -- click on "Weathering Freight Cars") offers a great overview of the history of grain shipping in the US.
Cheers,
Michael
