Has anyone got the numbers to work on the F7? I even went back and D/L a new copy deleted my old one ran the update, checked to see that the ATSF numbers were in the right place and still no joy.

Hi, thank you very much for your feedback!

I'm beginning to think that there's a terrible curse on that engine's numbers! !*hp*!

Could you check for me if your files look like mine?

In the GN repaint's folder...

F7A Engine blueprint001.bin references:
RailVehicles\Diesel\EMD F7\GN_1950s\Engine\Textures\F7 numbers blueprint000.xml

Textures\F7 numbers blueprint000.bin references:
LordMannu\Modelos\RailVehicles\Diesel\EMD F7\ATSF_Warbonnet\Engine\Textures\[00]Number_0 (etc.)

... and that this folder exists:
LordMannu\Modelos\RailVehicles\Diesel\EMD F7\ATSF_Warbonnet\Engine\Textures
... and that it contains the ten number textures? (This is what my patch should be adding!)

That is good to know, thank you! So the Workshop seems to upload only the QDs with the route and ignores all other scenario folders that are present. OK, another upload for my website then.

Cheers

There is no [00] in front of the numbers. and to be precise F7 numbers blueprint000 is a bin file not a xml but that shouldn't make a difference.

So your installation looks like mine, but the numbers work on my end and not on yours. What's going on here? It has to be a curse!
The [00] is as expected in the numbers.bin, it's a prefix code like in the Geo files. The actual textures don't have it in the file name. The .xml reference pointing to .bin files is also as expected.

I'm at a loss what to do next. All seems to work fine here -- I even deleted all but the GN F7 from my HD, installed the numbers patch, and still all is fine. I recall the numbers fix worked for at least somebody in the past (when I published that last Cascadian scenario), so why won't it work now?
!*don-know!*

Michael

<TextureByName>
<e d:type="cDeltaString">..\..\..\..\..\system\textures\[00]primarynumber_2</e>

Looking in the Geo it looks like it's looking for numbers in a system file and there is no system file in the LordMannu folder.

Bingo.

I grabbed the numbers from the old FA1 System folder and pasted then into the modelos folder and Shazam! I have numbers now. No idea if they are the right ones but we have numbers.

Wow, thank you! So it wasn't the number texture, but the placeholder primarydigits' textures that were missing! Great detective work, Buzz !!det!! Thank you very much!

That System folder is part of the original ATSF model. I'll create a second patch then which includes this folder as well (this issue probably affects all of my repaints).

I have two questions about GN A & B units in both scenarios with GN Passenger Train. There's nothing wrong but I never see myself before with the A unit on the front cab as you see the two red round lights on both sides also one right inside the headlight. When I am in simulation to run the passenger train and noticed that all three red lights are on even with the headlight too. What are the red lights for? Second of all I am not sure if anyone noticed with B unit and they don't have the name, Great Northern on both sides of the B unit just the A unit have the name on both sides of the locomotive. I don't know if someone ( the repainter ) forgot to add the name or that is the way like this in prototype railroading way back in the 1950-60?

Thank you,

John

How long did it take me to look this up? Maybe thirty seconds. The red lights (all three) are just wrong. they should not be lit.

example_light_glow_red.zip
Just replace the file in the Engine\Texture folder.

Regarding the numbers, there's a patch for them on trainsim.com - https://www.trainsim.com/vbts/tslib.php ... d=15012081 which seems to work.

Thanks for that - trainsim.com doesn't like linking elsewhere for some reason. Try searching for 'f7-dtm_patch.zip' in the file name search on the site.
