Building a route in T:ane. Working on the MRL redo of auto switches and markers. Adding signals to the CSX route, had walking pneumonia, had 30 uploads to post and got half done. I realize I am a Marine but I am getting older by the day and am not the fastest gun in the west any more. !!jabber!!

Getting older is good since the alternative is bad, saltier and grumpier not so much.

Not to go off on a tangent but... Since railroading is slow I've been using my GI Bill and going back to college to study welding. I'll tell yah, I don't consider myself old, I'm only 34, I'm still a pup! But nothing makes you feel older then talking to some young college kid! I've found myself explaining what a Long Playing record is, or a 45. Also, I complemented a kid on a Led Zeppelin shirt he was wearing, he had no idea who they were... !*don-know!* Or my favorite; a bunch of us veterans were shooting the fat, telling war stories about the invasion of Iraq. This kid jumps into the conversation and says "I remember 9/11, I saw the movies". **!!bang!!**

So, to get to the point. I can see why maybe folks get grumpier and saltier as then get older. They get to deal with all the punk kids like me.

To all you grumpy, salty, folks out there: **!!bow!!** !*salute*! !*cheers*!

How about when a WWII vet went to a local high school and the teacher introduced him as a veteran of world war eleven. The poor guy shook his head and walked out with out saying a word. The teacher was 23.

Well, now that I've knowingly and maliciously derailed the conversation from Buzz's GREAT repaints (as always up to your fantastic standards)...

Mr. Artim,
If its any consolation I want you to know that there will be at least two children out there that will know why we have such an amazing country!
They are only 4 and do not yet understand; but they will learn of those men and women that fought, died, and are still buried on the fields of battle around the globe.
Cantigny.jpg

This is a picture of my family (the Boss took the picture) at local museum in Illinois for the U.S. Army 1st Infantry Division of which I was a part, and made 3 trips to Iraq with. We visited this past summer on June 6th, D-Day to pay our respects. This is a replica of "Spirit of American Youth Rising from the Waves" a statue in France at the Normandy American Cemetary (inset).

So for what its worth know that your legacy lives and will continue to do so, with the hopes that we never have to fight World War 12 *!!wink!!*

Buzz, please don't kill me! I'll take the derail off the track now!

!*salute*!

Stories like this are always welcome on here. !*salute*! Thank you for your service. You serve the ignorant, the ungrateful, and the arrogant. It's not every day that we get a chance to let you know that there are a whole lot of us out here that admire and appreciate what you have done. Make sure those kids learn what they should about our Country. I know I made sure mine learned about it.
