The RWA route indeed modifies the original Donner Pass Route. The Workshop version creates a new route. Whether or not that is your preference or mine doesn't matter. That is how the Workshop works.

As you can see from my menu, I did not have that "missing route" problem.

There is a clunky procedure to follow to get a new route to install from the workshop.
1. Subscribe.
2. Start Train Sim, go to drive and go to Workshop. Wait for "Downloading" and "Decompressing" to finish.
3. Go to Quick Drive. (The route will NOT show up anywhere else until finalized and scenarios are written.)
4. Go to the last page of route icons under QD and Donner Pass Redux should be sitting there waiting.

Footnote. I have a couple dozen Workshop Routes. And though some have been discarded as junk, many are superb. Highly recommended New York Division - Bergen Line by Minerman146 of this forum : viewtopic.php?f=31&t=13875

It's a separate route, but it would need the original Donner Pass Southern Pacific, U.S. Loco and Asset Pack, European Loco and Asset Pack to show up.
99% of the Donner Pass Redux uses original Donner Pass assets.
It might not have shown up if the person didn't know to look in Quick Drive.
If people here have downloaded it and it didn't show up, please say something.

Thanks Eric.

That moderator is long gone so you could probably go back if you wanted to. Its fairly relaxed now, though still only of marginal value compared to here or the old steam forum. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/f ... .php?f=619

I voted "redux" up. I think you need 30 votes to finalize.

Thanks Tom.
When I went back it says I'm still banned for life. !**duh*!!

Redux is French for Redo, or something to that effect. !*roll-laugh*!

Eric,
I have subscribed to Donner Pass Redux
I believe the whole situation is quite clear to me at this moment.

1- When I subscribed a file of size 360.9 mb started downloading.

2-Once completed, I opened TS2016 and the Workshop tab. That originated the file to decompress followed by the installation.

3. The installation created an item called Donner Pass Redux and the folder is 6ff8b604-7361-4193-9381-f15ac7984537. The size of this folder is now 649 mb. It comes with 4 scenarios.

4- The size of my Donner Pass is at this moment is 1.26 gb. It contains 29 scenarios. It is clear that what came from the subscription "is not the full Donner Pass route" as the original plus your modification files has a double size. The native Donner Pass MainContent.ap just alone, has 636 mb.

In my system I have what can be the typical situation of a user that downloaded in RWA and has also subscribed: Two folders 6ff8b604-7361-4193-9381-f15ac7984537 and 00000032-0000-0000-0000-000000000000, both with the very same improved Donner Pass.
The only difference between my two, is that in Donner Pass (32) I have 5 replacement scenery files containing the information about the corrected detail levels of the gantries we talked about some time ago.

I hope this helps to understand what it is going on.

EDIT: The QD route options are different in the two route versions. This would be fixed by moving the QD scenarios to DP.

There's nothing to be fixed those Quick Drive are mine.
The Donner Pass Redux is smaller because it's a modified clone that draws on DPSP assets, so it doesn't need or use it's own assets folders.
Also the download from Steam is compressed.
Workshop routes are all made from DTG assets from other routes, so you won't see anything more included than Scenery, Mixmap, RouteInformantion, Networks, Scenarios and Terrain folders, plus the RouteProperties.xml
It's almost entirely bins drawing from other route properties.
That's why they don't care if people post free routes, it's because they are based on assets a person has to purchase from DTG.

Eric,
With all due respect, but the original QD scenarios have a lot more markers (places) than the updated version.
Your RWA version uses the full original QD.
About the compression, in my previous post here I explain about the download size and the decompressed size I got in the Donner Pass Redux workshop folder.
Something else: DPR is not the first DLC route with an update in the Workshop.

EDIT: Your WS update has a tracks.bin even though you did not touch the tracks.

I smoothed a couple of curves, but in a way that didn't break scenarios, hence the tracks.bin.

I don't get what you're trying to say about the download size vs the original.

I also don't understand what you are getting at about it not being the first route to get an update.

All I know is people don't seem to be having a problem subscribing and driving it, or I would have heard about it by now.

Well that was cool.
If that was one of my Quick Drives, I have no idea why he was sent through the siding at Gold Run.
I was rather surprised that one of the commenters said it didn't look that much different.

I think it's only using Donner Pass stock.
I didn't want to get too complicated for my first timetabled scenario. I think that's what it's called.

I am running it right now. I can write this **!!bang!!** while driving because I am in the uphill grade :D
Nice scenario. An easy one but very entertaining.
I found something in the scenery. I will check it after playing.
