Surfliner Route

Unread postby ChuckF » Mon Nov 04, 2013 12:56 pm

Hi! The Pacific Surfliner Route is supposed to be a "stand alone" route, so where in the Steam/Railworks file tree is this route located? Also, what is the actual file name. My updated version of RW_Tools V5.0 does not find it. Any help would be most appreciated. Cheers, Chuck F.

It is a .ap file. Go look in assets under PacificSurfliner. Extract that folder with 7zip so that the files are expanded and then RWTools will see it.

Is that the assets for the route, or the route itself, that are in the .ap file?

You are right sir. I forgot. The route itself is in a .ap file also and needs to be unzipped.

Hi! Thanks for the help. I did find Pacific Surfliner within Assets/RSC but have not found the route .ap file. What is that files name, and where would it be hiding? Cheers; Chuck F.

With some functions of RW_Tools temporarily blocked by this .ap business, here's another way to discover the numerically coded secret identity of installed routes:

1) Launch Train Simulator Utilities, click the "Packager" tab, then click the "refresh" button. Find something to refresh yourself for half an hour or so (nap, coffee, bike ride, good stiff drink or three).

2) In the list on the left-hand side, find the name of the route you want and check the box next to it. In the middle column, click the button marked >>>. When the route appears in the right-hand column, expand its entry (click the + signs) until its magic decoder ring number appears. For example, the hidden treasure number code for Marias Pass is 00000026-0000-0000-0000-000000002013 (unless I lost track while counting 0's).

Note that before executing this procedure you must swear on the sacred tracks of Train Simulator never to reveal this information to anyone, especially yourself!!!!!! !*hp*!

Bit of a shame. *!sad!*

To me, Marias Pass will always be 951aad2b-a785-4863-8f17-8508106b1531.

Far simpler to remember. :D

Oh, that doesn't help, does it... !!bang!!
