Railworks will not switch to Online Mode

Unread postby GaryG » Wed Oct 30, 2013 7:38 pm

Steam is definitely online, all working fine but RailWorks states it is in "Offline Mode" when I start a scenario. Also, I can't access the links mentioned in earlier RailWorks screens; clicking them does nothing although perhaps they aren't actually links?

Not certain when this started. Other than that, 2014 seems to be working fine.

I believe it's a false-positive, produced by a screen being called that shouldn't. I've seen the screen also (since the last update), even when online connection to Steam indicated an active connection.
Cheers!

Anyone else seeing this offline problem? Steam is definitely online but not only do I see the Offline message from that TS screen but none of the in-game links work either, i.e. New-Feature Article button or Community button as two examples.

I have tried toggling Steam offline and running TS 2014 then online and running TS 2014 again but still offline is indicated.

Any ideas, even better, am I really missing anything with TS 2014 apparently offline?

I've never seen this happen, at least to me anyways, Gary. And the only thing you are missing being in the offline mode is that your career scores don't get uploaded to the "Steam Cloud". Not sure if affects the green check marks being saved or not, tho. And for me, I don't use those buttons in game. I think there was a time a few of them didn't work anyways.

You could try and reinstall your Steam Client. But copy your "steamapps" folder to another spot on your hard drive, that has all your Steam games. Once Steam Client is reinstalled, then paste that "steamapps" folder back into the new install. You may want to do a verify of your games, altho doing that will erase any third party mods you have for TS2014.
