F59 Brakes fixed

Unread postby maxsdad » Sun Oct 27, 2013 8:41 pm

I was running Pacific Surfliner today and noticed that the brakes were working better. I ran a couple of scenarios and they were the same in both. They are slower to activate and faster to release. Much better and more controllable. Also, they don't lock up unless they are put into emergency. They can be held for quite a long time and released and they start releasing almost right away. I was pleasantly surprised at the change.
Looks like RSC heard our cries!!!!

PS: I did a file verify yesterday so maybe that did it.

Dunno, I didn't notice any updates on the Pacific Surfliner.

The EQ pressure gauge is still stuck at 160 Psi in all official and the couple of recent workshop scenarios with the F59PHI. In a free roam of myself the gauge is unstuck.

What engine parameters are kept/set in a scenario because I have seen stuck EQ gauges on more occasions since the update to 2014.

Can you please share the exact filesize of your .bin files?
My F59PHIEngine.bin is 20876 bytes, my CabCarEngine.bin is 21577 bytes.

Where would I find these .bin files? When I go to the RSC/Pacific Surfliner folder I see a PacificSurflinerAssets.ap file. I don't see any .bin files.

Why would BNSFdude say "You're welcome" if he didn't in fact make a change?
You need to ask him about that.
All I know is that I saw a change in the way the brakes worked.

I made the change and forwarded it to RSC. I helped with the simulation files for the F59...
I wouldn't take credit for something I didn't do.

I just ran 2 more workshop scenarios and the brakes worked great. Brake Pipe Pressure at 110lbs, brake cylinder pressure 60- 65lbs when stopping. At stop 6% brake setting holds the Pipe pressure at 40%. When released it takes about 3-5 sec. to release to 0% and off we go.

I must not have gotten the new bins because I'm still sitting for 20 seconds waiting for the brakes to release. The red/white needles are also still switched. A very small brake application yields 65lbs of pressure according to the f59's gauge but the f5 display says 18-20psi.

F59 bin location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\PacificSurfliner\PacificSurflinerAssets.ap\RailVehicles\Diesel\F59PHI\Default\Engine\

Cab car bin location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\PacificSurfliner\PacificSurflinerAssets.ap\RailVehicles\Passenger\Surfliner\Driving Trailer\Engine\

My bin file size's are: F59PHIEngine.bin 20876 bytes CabCarEngine.bin 21557 bytes

I don't own the Surfliner at this time but, could there be a small oversight in which the engine itself got fixed, but not the cab car end? Or maybe the whole update didn't go out?

Dude, can you specify the size of the .bin files on your end that work correctly?

Please forward them to me by PM for comparison if you're allowed.

CORRECTION!!!!
Above I said that during a stop that while applying a brake setting of 6% the pipe pressure held at 40%. I meant the brake cylinder pressure stayed at 40%.
Also, the brakes worked from both ends of the train. The F59 cab and the Cab Car. One scenario used the F59 and the other used the Cab Car.

I can't be the only person that has good brakes now. Where are the other people who's brakes are working ok. Chime in. It's ok. *!question!*

Do you run the scenarios supplied with the route or your own?

In all my supplied QD and WS scenarios the EQ needle is stuck at 160 psi and the brakes respond slowly, as if the loco waits for the train doors to close.
AFAIK there isn't a consist message script in action

In a free roam test, the gauges are OK and brakes do seem to work better but release from full service is still slow.

Do keep in mind the maximum release rate for most brake stands 26L and newer is 2.4PSI/second

I have made all of these runs with various scenarios I got from the "Workshop".
All I can tell you is that the brakes were "garbage" before and they work "great" now.
Have you done a "file verify"? If not, then maybe you should. I did and now the brakes are good.

No quick release on these preferrential passenger service units? No graduated release?

I still think the 26L is not correctly working: a minimum service reduction of 6 PsI on the brake pipe should give around 20 PsI in the brake cylinder, while it does give 56 PsI, almost the maximum of 65 PsI, which should be achieved by the full service reduction of 26 PsI.
There is this distributor in the simulation.bin that has a 2.5 trainpipecontrolratio?

Mind you, the brake cylinder pressure needle is hooked up to the trainbrakecylinder controlvalue, while it should show the locomotive brake cylinder pressure.

Please tell the size and timestamp of your engine.bin, cabcar.bin and J59 Engine simulation.bin files for comparison with ours as they appear not to have been updated since first install of the PS route.

In the meantime I have deleted the whole RSC/PacificSurfliner folder from my Steam install. Steam is now verifying and should supply a fresh copy. Will see what that brings.
