I'm just trying to swap an engine! Pffffttttt!

OK, so all nerds aren't Geniuses. !**duh*!! I got the great Montour route last night and I love it. BUT, all I have is two free roams, one of them the engine (a switcher) is a "ghost" image, seems I don't have it? So, I tried on the TS screen to change the engine. The button says "change" under the engine and the route. Should be easy, right? Ummmm, no. Change the engine, and the route changes! No, not what I want. I want an engine I own on the Montour.

I had RW Tools a year ago but lost it in a format of Win 7, do I need it back to do this? Thought TS2014 was supposed to make this easier. I looked at the "build" menu but I'm lost. I know this is a simple task for most of y'all, I just don't get it. HELP!

I had built 5 standard scenarios that are in the files section here. in those files are the requirements for the scenario to work. Rich and I decided to keep a standard but limited list of payware rolling stock for scenarios used on the Montour.
RSC SW1500
P&LE repaint of the RSC SW1500 (here in the files section)
Montour steel caboose (here in the files section)
Great Northerners PC freight pack (used for the coal hoppers)
Great Northerners NYC 55&70 offset side mega pack (coal hoppers)
Great Northerners NYC 70t Rib-Side Hoppers Mega pack (coal Hoppers)
I opted to go with the later 1970's and early 1980's time frame so this is what was mainly used on the Montour.
J.Cornell's GP38-2 P&LE repaint. (free here in the files section)

Chris, if you still have your key just download RW_Tools again. RW_Tools is the Swiss Army Knife of Rail Works, as it will allow you to swap out what you don't have, with stuff you do have. I think you just found a bug with TS2014, not sure why it will not let you drive anything you own on the Montour? I just tried the same thing and sure enough, the UP Challenger switched me from the Montour route to the Cajon route?

I would download RW Tools, it is really an essential piece of software for our little hobby. If you ask Mike nicely he might send you the registration code again for it and remember to include the time frame in which you purchased it as well. He sent it back to me really quick.

Thanks, Glenn, hadn't yet looked for scenarios yet, was just kinda trying to figure out swapping an engine. Just really used your route as an example, so nothing personal against the route, I actually love it. Runs very nice.

TS does the same thing when I try and "change" an engine on any one route, if that engine is not used normally on that route, TS will change the route. Kinda frustrating.

Yeah, Mike, I will send Mike Simpson a message. Then again, it's worth the donation I may just buy it again. Doesn't hurt to support the folks that work hard to make this a fun sim. Thanks guys. !!howdy!!

I went ahead an purchased RW Tools again. Now Mike can buy his puppy some food. Seriously, thru all this TS2014 he's been right here in the thick of things, I do what I can to help.

Now it's on to figuring out RW Tools, I'll read more at Mike's site and if there's any more tutorials out there (Papa maybe?) point me to them. !*salute*!

Chris this may be the intended behavior, related to Quick Drive.
I seem to remember that engine builders are supposed to specify on which route they can be used, or is it the opposite?

OK, but would that affect using Free Roam as well? I didn't try swapping engines in Quick Drive because I figured it wouldn't work there. No worries, I'll do some more "testing" after my morning work at the Iowa. !!*ok*!!
