Last Flash Steam Update has messed up EB F7 horn sound

Unread postby OlPaint » Tue Aug 06, 2013 5:51 pm

Has anyone noticed that the last Flash Steam Update send down has messed up the Empire Builder F7 horn sound?

I have also noticed the physics has been degraded, too. I can't accelerate or brake as quickly as I did yesterday. The physics adjustment has also affected all my other locomotives to the worse side as well. I can't get the trains to pickup speed normally and it feels like I need to stick out my foot to drag the ground to get a locomotive to stop even when running light.

That means it works realistically! Sweet! I'm glad they listened to me on how quick it accelerated and decelerated! :D However, the horn should work? I fixed the bad loop it had. Must've been a goof at RSC Towers sending it to Steam?

So you are telling me that the lastest Railworks physics correction is more realistic? I don't see how that can be...

Yard switching, driving a light switcher with or without short strings of cars, is darn near impossible for me to operate now. Just using the locomotive brake on a switcher running light should stop the rig in tens of feet instead of hundreds of feet. And a light loco should accelerate to 5 mph in several tens of feet not several hundreds of feet. The same thing happened last year when TS2013 was first released . I had just purchased the GE 44 Ton switcher and was all excited about solving "Switching Puzzles" scenarios. The switcher was behaving like an "Old Grampa on a Walker". Eventually, after I complained to RSC Tech Support multiple times, the physics were tuned back to normal. And it has been that way until the latest Flash Update.

The game has become simply unplayable for me. I have lost all enjoyment operating a yard switcher. It is no fun struggling with the latest snail pace physics..

I am sorry but that is how I feel.

BTW, the F7 horn loop sounded just fine before the latest Flash update. It sounds terrible now. The transistion from the start to continuous section makes a bad drop in volume. And the transition to the end is jarring.

Weird. I'll give it a try quickly.

My complaint email to RSC Tech Support must have done some good, at least in respect to RW Loco Driving Physics. I just received a Steam Update that download and installed. Low and Behold, I have discovered that my switcher locos are driving normally now. Acceleration and Braking rates have returned to what I remember them to be before the original Steam Update. Hurray!

I have not check out the EB GN F7 horn yet. To see if that has returned to normal. I will do that after a do some chores for the Wifie

The latest Steam Update that restored my Switcher Loco physics did not fully repair the EB GN F7 horn. One thing I did notice was that if I blow the horn with the HUD button and compare it with blowing horn with the SpaceBar key press, the SpaceBar key press horn sounds much better. Does that make any sense to you?

Also, pulling the 3D horn cord in the cab, by grabing it with a mouse click and hold, sounds more pleasing with a much smoother attack then sustain then roll off.

I would imagine that your non-release agreement with RSC prevents you from publishing your "golden" F7 horn object, correct?

Nah, I can release patches on my own. I've noticed the HUD horn issue before. I only use spacebar or my RD's horn toggle. The HUD horn button seems to "pull" the valve slower, which is quite goofy to me.

As for my "golden" horn, all it is is a loop update. If I was home, I'd post a dropbox link.

Well, now that you mentioned it, I have noticed the HUD Horn Button drags out the horn sound for other locos as well. I will just quit using the HUD buttons and depend on the SpaceBar or 3D Horn handle or pull cord from now on. Your EB GN F7 horn is really sweet when it blows correctly. Looking forward to trying your Dropbox link horn patch when you get around to it.

Here you go! You may have to change the proxyxml to point to the wav rather than the dav.

Much appreciated. Thanks for the file. I will edit the proxyxml and give it a try.
