Changed Audio Files on NKP Berkshire Making TS2013 Crash

Unread postby Railfan587 » Tue Jul 16, 2013 9:08 pm

I'm testing out some new whistles and bells with my G-TraXs Berkshire (I test all of my steam loco sounds on the berkshire) and it keeps making TS2013 crash. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Re-working Audio files is a little more involved that just dropping sound files into the Audio folders and over-writing the old files. The BluePrint files must be carefully scrutinized to make sure that the names for the sound objects are observed and the folder addresses where they can be founded are referenced correctly. Also, RW uses a .DAV format for audio files, where as most re-worked bell and whistle sound files may be in .WAV or .WMA format. The BluePrint files must be edited to recognize the difference as I have painfully learned.

I don't think you understand. I've changed the sounds many times before. I even made a bell sound replacement for it, check the file library. What I'm saying is that I go to start a scenario with the Berk and a changed sound, the scenario loads, and immediately the game crashes. I get that "Something bad happened in the program" message. But when I use the default sounds, the scenario loads and the game doesn't crash.

Think this through for a minute my young friend. You have to be doing something different. Have you put YOUR file that you know works in there and is it OK? If so something must be wrong with your new one.

Well, my bell replacement still works. So, I guess my audio files are broken. Is there any way to fix them?

Problem solved. I use the "&" for SP&S 700 Whistle. I changed it the SPS 700 Whistle, and now it is working.

Bob is off rail fanning this weekend with his fellow NERW creators so you probably won't see any updates until next week.

Very nice whistle! I'll get right on there!

Take as time as you need for the other 2.

SP&S 700 Sound Issue. (At Least for me)

Unread postby WhistleBlast » Sat Aug 31, 2013 12:07 am

SO, I was quite happy to see some enhancement sounds for the SP&S 700, so I downloaded them and after reading the readme repeatedly, I put the files where they go and the only sound that works is the Whistle (which sounds AMAZING). My 700 is the quietest steam loco in the world cause it's dead silent...minus the whistle.

I'm not sure if I did something wrong...

Any help would be wonderful! Thank you
WhistleBlast
