How to fix transparent building?

Unread postby Toripony » Fri May 31, 2013 2:55 am

I have this beautiful station called "sala" that I found somewhere (an Italian site maybe) that I'd really like to use but it's semi transparent. In this screenie you can see the buildings and hills beyond through the building's walls. Is this something I could fix by changing some value in its blueprint?

There's nothing in the blueprints that controls transparency ... it's all in the actual texture files. You could try converting each one to a format you can edit in Photoshop and black out the entire alpha channel, then convert it back again (I think RW Tools can help you do that, although I've never used it myself).

Assets in RW also have individual detail settings. If they aren't set to 10 they can have display issues.
I'm not talking about the detail setting in the main menu, I'm talking about a level setting for the individual asset when in the editor.

You can try clicking on the building in the editor, and then double click it to highlight and bring up the upper right flyout window.
I haven't done this for awhile... There should be a detail setting in that properties window. Make sure it's set to 10 and make sure any individual parts of the structure are set to 10.

This by the way, is also the fix for signal bridges and other assets that disappear when your master detail level in advanced graphics settings aren't at level 10.

It's not intuitive. Level 10 in the asset properties means the asset will show up in all 10 detail level settings. Level 8 means it will show up in the first 8 detail level settings, then disappear etc.

I believe the above has to do with materials and not detail settings or textures. You should be able to change the model properties via RW_Tools and use another (good) model for material comparison.
Cheers!
