How to verify game files

Unread postby mapitts » Mon Apr 01, 2013 8:02 pm

I hope this is in the right section. In the last update I managed somehow to loose some custom sound files. I got those back and in the mean time I lost the horn on my Dash 9. I know that I screwed that up. I am currently in offline mode. I need to go to on line mode and verify my game files. How do I do that? I know that there is a batch file to hold all of my custom sounds as back up. I do not know how to use it and I am kind of on my own on this one. No one to help me with it. I am afraid of loosing my custom sounds when I go back into on line mode, and getting them back to were they need to be is about a half day ordeal for me. Is my best bet to leave it alone? I miss my Dash 9's. Please keep it simple. I have VERY limited knowledge of this kind of stuff.

I suggest you just D/L this and then you don't need to mess with the verify if that's a problem for you.

Well I tried to download and install it. It says to drop it in the assets file, which I did. The only horn I have now is on the SP Dash 9's. All the others do not have a horn at all. What have I done or not done? Not mad Buzz, just a little aggravated I guess.

Verify will always wipe out all your custom stuff. Basically, you have to go back to the websites you got the sounds from and reinstall them. I keep all my custom stuff in a file folder, if I have to do a verify, I just reinstall from that folder! Easy Peasy! !*salute*!

Buzz sent me a link to sound file. I have extracted it to were it is supposed to be but no sound. The sounds I am speaking of are for the Dash 9 DLC from steam. Buzz sent me a link to a K5LA. My SP Dash 9 has the "original" horn. The others have nothing what so ever. The link readme says to put it in the steam assets file. Is there some thing else I should be doing other than placing that file there. I did extract it to that location though. Thanks for all the help. Down but not out!
