Where's the Consolidation?

Unread postby NKP1 » Sun Feb 17, 2013 1:13 pm

The Kanawha East v4_5 scenario for C&O Alleghany for some reason reguires the Challenger pack and if it's not installed it claims it's missing a Consolidation engine and tender. So I paid the twenty bucks to RSC for the Challenger only to discover the darn thing isn't even used in the scenario but the scenario will now run with the Kanawha 2-8-4's. And the Consolidation is not even listed with available assets. What's the deal? Where can I get the/a Consolidation?

The consolidation was included with the package purchased from IHH. It was not included with the reworked RSC package.

I don't know anything about "IHH". Got a link? Do I have to pay again?

Iron Horse House. I'm not sure they still sell the Challenger. I believe that RSC bought it out from them. If you mean pay again in addition to the new UP Challenger DLC, then, yes, to get the Consolidation, you'd have to buy the original Challenger DLC. I'm not sure it's available through STEAM at the moment.

That sounds confusing Griphos. I need a current direct link to the Consolidation. Either that or someone slide me one in a PM. Thanks.

As the Consolidation was/is a part of a Payware DLC Pack, I question the legitimacy of it being provided by the original owner to you (violation of EULA). You could use RW Tools and swap the consolidation for another locomotive.

Just my **!!2cents!!**

It apparently is no longer part of a legitimate pack. Unless I am wrong it appears that this IHH outfit had the Challenger, Consolidation and some passenger cars all bundled up together. RSC came along and only bought the Challenger which they are now offering for $20 as a DLC. So now gentlemen, I ask you again. where, pray tell, can I currently get the Consolidation (verified)?

I'll try to be clearer. RSC did indeed buy the original Challenger package from IHH, and also the Big Boy. This package, when sold by RSC, did indeed include the Consolidation. But then it was taken off of STEAM when TS2013 came out. Then RSC released the new UP Challenger, which does not include the Consolidation. So, I can't give you a link, since there isn't one. I don't know of a way to get the Consolidation if you don't already have it. Sorry.

An attachment of what? We can't send you a payware locomotive even if it's not for sale currently, just so you can run a scenario for a freeware route. I'd recommend getting Mike's wonderful RW_Tools, and swap out the Consolidation you don't have and can't get with something you do have, like the Challenger.

What you're asking for cannot be legally done, despite the fact that the DLC is no longer available to purchase. In any case you simply will not be able to install the IHH Consolidation from any source other than Steam as it is copy controlled.

As Griphos says, the best course of action is to swap it out for a loco you have (or can obtain) with RWTools. I've done this myself plenty of times and it is very straightforward to do.

OK... Here's what I'll do for you: Provide you with either of or both of the following...

1) A clone of the scenario with all instances (5) of the Consolidation deleted.

2) a clone of the scenario with the Consolidation replaced with the kanawa Berkshire...

Your choice

never mind. already running the Kanawha. But too many derails with that loco now especially while trying to get to the WSS platform. Tori is helping. But until v5 comes out I may be better off running that scenario with a couple of 4 axle geeps. no biggie
