I have seemingly lost all of my custom sound files. SD70, EMD645, & ES44 sound files have been changed basically over night. I cannot seem to get them to reinstall either. Anyone else run into this silly, crazy stupid stuff?

I don't know, because I install al my mods using a script file. When I get an update from RSC, I just run the script.

I think I am done with RW. When it takes a BS in computer science to play a simulation, there comes a time when you say enough is enough. It used to be fun. It's not any more. Everything I have gathered by reading and trying from other's posts no longer seems to work. A lot of people have put in a lot of effort in custom sounds that are out of this world. Hell, I even bought a new computer just to run this sim. I do not posses the knowledge that it takes to to constantly baby this simulation, it's quirks, and problems. If it steps on some people toes, I apologize. I however paid my money in good faith to have something that could and would be user friendly. It is so far from that it is pitiful. Like I said, there comes a time when you say you are beat and move on to something else not sim or computer related.
Edit; Upon further investigation it looks like another RW update on Feb.8 took it all out. Enough is enough for me.

I am getting tired of people complaining first that RSC is not fixing things, and then when they do that it blows away a modification to RSC's FILES.
Its been explained who know how many times what happens when an update is pushed out by Steam. Simple tools have been offered to the community to help the with the situation (remember we are modifying RSC's FILES). And then if it still irritates you to no end that RSC is pushing out fixes to the software THEY ARE SUPPORTING, then you can set Steam to work offline.
If you are done with RSC for doing their job, then I say to you, good bye.

Agreed. This does not happen with added content, just to RSC content that you have modified. Of course your changes will be overwritten by the next update. There is no other way that it could work. If you don't understand this, avoid changing game files.
The game itself is easy to use and requires no maintenance from the user.

It's quite the pain when my sounds are overwritten. Would you mind explaining in a little more detail, how you protect your sounds? You have aroused my curiosity.

This is the batch file we are talking about:
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=5383Once you have the folder structure set up then its simple as pie to keep RW updated with your mods. I don't even install RWP files anymore. I unpack them using 7-zip and place them in the folder and run the batch file.

Use a batch file this time so you don't have to do this all over again next time.
