I thought that Photoshop CS2 was free? Why is it asking for a serial number?

Did you read their web site?

Hey. I'm trying to follow Marleyman's repaint tutorial, and myself using CS2. It's proving problematic. This is the part I have trouble with.
The first steps are as follows, Duplicate the Background layer and call it grey. With the ‘grey’ layer selected go to the top menu and select Enhance then Convert to Black and White. You now have a duplicate of the dds but in black and white. Now in your Layers Window select create a new layer and call this body colour.
The tools are different. I can't carry out the said operation. Any help? It has me stumped! !*don-know!*

The manual approach is to make a new layer. Select all on the first layer, copy, then paste on to the new layer.

I'm having troubles as well. Can someone post a video of themselves making a good repaint using CS2? Because it seems nearly impossible. *!sad!*

How do you block out circular items, like the fan vents?

I have CS4, which is probably similar to CS2.

Duplicate the Background layer and call it grey.

This has not changed. In the layers window (F7), right-click on the background layer, choose Duplicate Layer, enter "Grey" as the name for the new layer.

go to the top menu and select Enhance then Convert to Black and White.

In CS4, I go to the top menu, select "Image" / Adjustments / Black & White

Two more things. How do I get the back layers, to show through the color layer? Also. How do I save the color I used? I need to keep the same color blue, through several textures.

These are standard Photoshop functions. You need to learn a bit more about Photoshop, by searching on Google and viewing Photoshop tutorials.

Looking at your screenshot, this is not Photoshop, it's Photoshop Elements. Different software.

I was just thinking that. When I started out repaiting I tried to use Elements, but getting to certain features was a pain.

So, what should I do? He didn't say he used elements.

Don't use elements.

I already have CS2. I want to know how I can make the layers visible so I can cut out areas that aren't a certain color.
