Unread postby BNSF650 » Sun Feb 03, 2013 10:53 pm

Is there anyway to put the SD40-2 Sounds for the SD45??

Why? Aside from the insanely loud traction motor sounds, they're virtually the same. I made them that way.
The traction motor sounds? not so much. They should be patched when the SP SD45 comes out ;)

Now you know darn well I'm gonna call you out on this. I have in PMs to you. They are NOT virtually the same. The SD45 DLC has autorack drone to it.

To those that don't know what I mean by autorack drone, I'll explain. If you've ever watched a train where a large string of autorack cars are going by on welded rail track, you'll hear this odd droning sound. I'm guessing it's the resonating reverberation sound of it's sheet metal like side walls of the car with it's many holes in it. That's why i call it autorack drone. It has a sorta fan like sound.

The SD45 DLC has this drone and it gets higher in pitch with every notch upward. I'm using Simer4's SD40 pack with the excellent turbo 645 sounds to replace the default SD40-2 sounds. So I haven't heard the default SD40-2 in awhile. But I can't recall it having any autorack drone like this SD45 DLC does. That drone sounds AWFUL! And the engine sound itself is too quiet. Sounds like a quieted passenger train like the F40PH and not the loud, throaty sound of road freight engine.

To anybody that doubts me, listen to it and compare for yourself. You'll HEAR what I mean. !!howdy!!

The drone isn't an "autorack" and notice I said VIRTUALLY the same.

The sound you hear is the cooling fans running on it, as I put them in to simulate how GN 400 tends to run on warm days. (winter, that's a whole other story, she doesn't like to start).

Is it 100% correct on the current DLC? no, but it WILL be as soon as the SP comes out, and the UP one is patched.

I hope you guys are having fun because most of us have no idea what you are talking about. I believe the gent said he only had a idle sound and now we are off on some discussion about what these things are supposed to sound like.

No, you mean someone went off topic? Here? !*roll-laugh*!

My SD45 throttles up just fine. Did you verify the game files thru Steam? (yeah, I know, that opens another can of worms) (IDK what "autorack drone is") I just drive. *!!wink!!*

I'm sorry. I jumped the gun and let him know what his NEXT problem is gonna be once he gets it functioning right. My bad! !*roll-laugh*! *!!wink!!*

I say verify cache and if that doesn't work, install back up or complete sim reinstall.

As for sound? I'll await the final product for a final verdict. The fan is killing it for me as of now. !!**sorry**!!

Nah. I'll either wait until somebody does better or I'll see if the SD40 pack is able to replace the SD45s sounds. Just because my car has problems doesn't mean I need to become an automobile manufacturer to remeady my complaints with it. *!greengrin!*
